Went to this library on multiple occasions to study thinking it would be a quiet place to concentrate—boy was I wrong! First few days I went it wasn’t too bad, then my last 2-3 visits I could hardly get anything done due to how loud it was. I tried giving them a fair chance thinking maybe on the off chance it wasn’t the norm. However on multiple occasions staff members were chatting in the lab towards the back of the library, laughing, talking loudly and the lab only makes their voices that much louder. Staff at the help desk were talking at full volume whether it was helping someone with a printing issue or talking to another staff member (which yet again most of the time is what they were doing.) Unfortunately I think this only encourages patrons to be even louder than them. Full classes of kids loudly talking, kids screaming and running around etc. Hate to see it, this library used to be quiet and an awesome place to study and read. I’d recommend the staff focus on making the environment quieter and make sure there is less talking amongst themselves (at such a high volume in particularly) and encouraging patrons to help make it a quiet environment also. I won’t be recommending this library nor will I be returning. Frankly it’s ridiculous to go to a library and not experience a quieter...
Read moreThe customer service today is the reason for my 2 star rating. I went in to pick up a hold for a book discussion kit but the security officer had to ask me if I needed help before a staff member came to the desk. The staff member asked if I had a card and I said no (I have not had a physical card and have checked out things online previously with just my card number and pin. Plus went away for a little bit for college but wanted to keep my account for when I came back home.) I gave a card number but it actually was for the metropolitan library (which was completely my fault before I realized it.) Staff member said they could look me up, which is what they did last time I checked out a book and tells me I had a physical card. Ummm, I’ve literally been checking out books without a physical card for two years. I did not feel like arguing so I just let her finish checking my holds out and said thank you and left. I would’ve asked about getting a new card but with that interaction I truly felt like I would’ve been an...
Read moreI LOVE going to the Pioneer Library. The employees are all amazing. They offer different services from storybooks to how-tos and even textbooks. They've got computers for work, school, or playtime. They offer a kid-friendly play area with toys. They even have a 'Maker Lab' where you can (with help) print 3D items or other fun craft projects. The Pioneer Library System offers rooms at most (if not all) locations that can be used for birthdays, business meetings, baby showers, and much more. With an easy-to-book system. They also have an option where if you've got a library card with them you can easily get a library card with the Metropolitan Library and vice versa even if you dont meet the regular standard of living...
