I would not recommend this escape room. I booked the mountain escape room for my son as a gift for the 10pm time slot, as the website states they are open until midnight. We arrived 15 minutes early per the site's directions. Upon entering, we were not greeted and had to say hello first. We were handed tablets and told, "here, fill these out" by the young woman running the shift, who was unfriendly and unpleasant from the start. As we filled out our information, she made negative comments, such as, "So y’all are the reason I have to be here so late?" When I mentioned that they were open until 12 am and we reserved the booking available on the site, she replied, "Yeah, we are, but I’m just tired because I’ve been up since early today," and went on about her various responsibilities helping her mom run her bakery and daycare, which are located in the same building. This created a negative experience even before we entered the room. We brought five well-behaved teens aged 12-16 who quietly sat on the couch while she continued to complain, even commenting on having kids out past 10 pm. When I pointed out it was a Saturday night during summer, she seemed annoyed. Given the site's no-refund policy, we decided to make the best of the situation. During the pre-room briefing, she mumbled through her script so fast that none of us could understand her. We had to use a hint right away to ask her to slow down and explain so we could hear the pronunciation of her words, but she was clearly annoyed and unhelpful. Throughout the experience, she made disparaging comments about the other guests, further ruining the atmosphere. Overall, the experience was extremely disappointing and not worth the $200 spent. Perhaps a different staff member during the day would offer a better experience, but our visit was negative. I will not be returning and will warn others, as the entire experience was distasteful and not worth the money. The staff member made what should have been a fun experience into a terrible one, and her negative attitude and unprofessional behavior were...
Read moreI bought the ‘Serum 42’ room for a group of 5 kids under 12. There was no indication of the level of difficulty on the website but the boy working with us there told me it’s the hardest room, after we didn’t make it out. I paid full price for the private room and later noticed it was on Groupon which stung a little, and of course the employee helping us didn’t mention it. A clue helped get us started but I think the problem is that once you complete a task, there’s absolutely no indication what to do next without using another clue. It’s finding numbers to open locks but it seemed like the clues inside the locked boxes were vague and didn’t really ever point us in the next direction. Near the end of our sad little hour, one of our players attempted a code on a lock and vigorously attempted to open the shackle. It was sad and cute at the same time, but it prompted a female employee to pop their head in and say, ‘please don’t try to break our locks’ in a terribly condescending manner then shut the door again without letting anyone respond. The person trying to ‘break their lock’ was a 60 lb girl, cutest thing but obviously their worst nightmare. I didn’t appreciate what the employee did and it kind of ruined the mood. It was strangely loud in the hall the entire hour we were there. When I told the male employee who checked us in that we would never try to break anything he responded that some people do try to break their locks so.... The staff appears to be middle to high school age. Overall it was a poor use of money and time, the game needs some tweaking I think, the room was sort of junky, needs nicer props. For the cost I’d hope they could afford some newer less makeshift things, the staff need some pointers on customer service but mostly just to finish puberty. It was just an insulting awkward finish to a poorly put together...
Read moreWe came for my daughter’s birthday on 01/19. We signed the waivers and went into the intro room. After the video she came to explain other things.
She talked VERY FAST and didn’t enunciate ANY of her words so we had no clue how to use the locks. We had to use hints and when hints were given she still talked SO fast and we had to ask her multiple times to slow down and enunciate her words. All she said was “sorry”.
I actually had one of the codes figured out earlier but didn’t think I did because the lock wouldn’t open. Later she then came in because we complained again about the lock not working and when asked if this is the right code…Yep it was the right code but she again expected us to know how to use the lock. Its the type realtors use I found out after. She acted annoyed that we needed help using the lock and that implied we were stupid because we didn’t know how to use that type of lock.
Then up/down/left/right style locks, she again had to help us learn how to use them multiple times because she talked SO fast. She never explained how to “reset” that type of lock. Actually…she may have but she talked so flippin fast we probably missed it.
I’m a fast talker and usually can follow one but if you can’t move your lips to enunciate your words you shouldn’t be giving instructions.
What a waist of $171.75!! It would have been more fun if we were just given good and proper instructions on how each type of lock logistically worked.
I’m a puzzler and love a challenge but this was a frustrating experience. Train your staff better! And if can’t train your staff to enunciate clear instructions, provide written/visual instructions on how each type of lock works. Canva.com can help you.
Won’t be back and everyone should avoid this place until they...
