Here’s my breakdown. There are 2 reviews here.
3 meat tray with brisket, ribs, and dark chicken with roasted corn and okra. -Ribs had a competition style bite meaning they weren’t falling off the bone but still tender. Good moisture and flavor. -Chicken had bite through skin, a nice salt pop, and great smoke. The pieces were large but still tender and juicy. Probably my favorite meat on the tray. -Brisket left me a bit frustrated because it had amazing potential. The flavor and bark were excellent but they served it in a big chunk and it had dried out. In all fairness, the longer the meat sits (holds), the more it can dry out. I wouldn’t serve someone a big chunk of brisket on a plate when they asked for sliced. Again, in all fairness, it was getting towards the end of the day and things do start to dry out. With that being said, if you’re going to charge full price, it should be up to standard. I say that to say I very much look forward to giving them another shot, at lunch, so the brisket will be at its freshest and I can give it a real assessment. We’ll call this one a “no decision”. -Okra was fantastic! Crispy, salty and no spines. Outstanding! -Roasted corn was more like an elote kind of corn with chili powder, cotija cheese, and creamy. The flavors were all pretty mild but the corn was tender and cooked through. -The blueberry banana cobbler had an almost bread pudding like cakey texture with the warm fruit filling. It was fine but I think it might be better cold. I saved half to do a comparison there. -The jalapeño poppers are essentially Texas Twinkies. Jalapeños stuffed with brisket and cream cheese then wrapped in bacon and smoked. These were fabulous. Like make a meal out of them alone type good.
First impressions (at this new Moore location), outside of the brisket, were excellent. Tyler took good care of us and encouraged us to make a return visit. We definitely will do that because I really want to see what the potential for that brisket truly is!
Now, for the second impression. We wanted to give another shot at “brisket redemption” and it redeemed for sure. Brisket had excellent flavor and was served in a much easier way to enjoy. The portion was good and the fat was well rendered and soft, just like I like it. I switched up and got pulled pork this round. It had mild smoke and good flavor. It was very lean and tender. A little shot of the original sauce made it even better. The macaroni and cheese was a good old school style stove top mac and cheese. Okra was good again and the jalapeño bombs.. get the...
Read moreI heard great things about this place. They moved from a small place in Moore OK to the OKC Stockyards Distrct. I am off on Thursdays often and tried to go there but they are closed on Thursdays. I was off today and remembered they were open. I saw them on Door Dash and was super excited. Then I saw their pricing. $41 for a full rack of Pork ribs? Everything is extremely high in price. But I thought, maybe because of the rent at the Stockyards and the high quality and flavor maybe the juice was worth the squeeze. I am sad to say it isn’t. The food is good. The BBQ sauce is a vinegar based liquid which not my style but it was still good. The problem for me is this. The quality although good isn’t worth the value. When you can get local BBQ from really good local not chain BBQ restaurants for literally 50% to almost in some cases 100% less, to me it just isn’t worth it. Trust me I wanted to love this place. I was excited to order from them. Again food is good. You will have to decide if you want to pay $41 for rack of pork ribs, almost $20 for 2 thick slices of brisket on a bun with a side. The best value was their quarter smoked chicken, it was $10.50. Also their jalapeño bombs are good and I got them at a happy hour price of $7.80. So I thought it was a good deal. There were 3 jalapeños and a side of ranch. This isn’t LA, I understand quality, rent location, the COG’s now a days. However when other places are 1/2, 1/3 or a 1/4 of your prices and the quality is very good, I question your decision making. Is this pride or necessity? You should try it and let me know if you...
Read moreNever again…
You only have one chance to make a first impression and this was the worst I have ever had.
Arrived at 10:08 am, walk in, restaurant was half empty and no one acknowledged us, finally a guy comes from the back and says have a seat and I will clean the table…because every table and the bar were filthy. The two women were to busy eating donuts.
We sat at the table while the woman in the hoodie walks past us five or six times over 25 minutes, finally the guy from the back comes up and takes our drink order and we get drinks about 10-15 minutes after that…then the woman walks up and asks us what we want to drink. The man comes back and says no coffee because the coffee pot broke, one freaking coffee pot…we were charged for the coffee anyhow.
He asks what we want to eat, we both want breakfast tacos, no tortillas, I order pancakes, two pancakes with no bacon or sausage $7 and my wife orders quesadillas, the food comes out at 11:03 (almost an hour after we walked into a half empty restaurant), pancakes had no butter in a try tray, a tablespoon of syrup in a cup and no eating utensils…and the pancakes were cold but they looked good. My wife said the quesadillas were okay, she ate about a third of the quesadillas and few cold home fries and we gave up, went to the counter to pay. $28 for two cold pancakes and a quesadilla with cold potatoes.
Just because you can smoke meat, doesn’t mean you should open a breakfast restaurant.
Never again…so freaking pissed that...
