Man this school is not heading in the direction of somewhere I would like to graduate from. The internet access and other amenities here are terrible. They refuse to fund programs that students are already attending for, but just spend 5 million to start a teaching program. I've heard a lot about how President Downs has run this school into the ground, but its not only him the entire administration is complacent. It almost as if once they have your tuition you do not matter whatsoever to the school. The Professors are great, but the administration only cares about what in your pockets. Being a student here is extremely frustrating because most of the time you are unsure what you paid for. If you want a school to invest itself back into you as a student, this is NOT the place to go. They really need to hold on to their professors because I would have transferred after my first semester if not for them. I still most likely will finish my degree elsewhere just due to the fact that I do not feel valued as a student here whatsoever, and frankly my money could fund a much better program elsewhere that will actually use it to help...

Pro's: The Sociology program is fantastic. Dr. Vigilant is very knowledgeable and willing to really explain the 'nitty gritty' of what you are learning. Most of the other teachers are very nice and willing to help. Nice campus, the advisers are friendly and mostly available.
Con's: The administration is horrible. Worse than horrible. I have been out of school for over 5 years and they still find ways to screw me over whenever I have to deal with them. From key administrative aids being out of the office for weeks, to the purposeful and never ending runaround you get from every single person from billing, to academics, to student aid, to the school board. They impose random holds on your account and never take them off, even after bringing in at least 3 people to resolve the issue. Its the poster-child for bureaucracy.
Never trust anyone when they say they will "leave a message" and "I'm...
Read moreGood school. Excellent film, theatre, and education programs. A decent price for the full university experience without having to walk a mile to you next class. Knocked a star off because of the numerous classes cut and horrible decisions made by the last president. The dorms, and other campus facilities are undergoing numerous needed renovations. I would recommend this place to prospective students.
Kise Commons on the other hand, best to avoid eating there for every meal. Trust me, you won't go #2 for days.
Advice for new students… watch out for the squirrels. Seriously! Watch out for the squirrels! They'll ruin your day! Every long term student and staff member here has a personal story or two to tell you about MSUM's squirrels. I was once walking to class and a squirrel took a Dairy Queen blizzard cup up into the tree and dropped it on a girl's head in front of Ballard Hall and...
