As far as children go, excellent!!! I would have absolutely thrived having a playground like this when I was a child. Instead we had metal slides that practically caused 3rd degree burns every time you tried to touch them. I had to refrain from playing on everything. Love that they have special flooring. DO NOT COME IF YOU HAVE A DOG. Within a few moments of finding a nice shady spot in the grass, a park employee appeared and told us dogs weren't allowed. I looked online and for signs before entering the park and did not see anything about no dogs. My dog is registered as my ESA (yes, a legitimate ESA via letter from my therapist) but I did not have my wallet containing card and tbh I have PTSD from even attempting to explain it to anyone because there's so much stigma. My dog is very well traveled and well behaved. He was laying in the shade resting but apparently that caused enough of an upset for the park ranger to be called. Not only did he tower over us but he legitimately followed us and then stood by the gate to ensure we left. I am not sure how my dog was bothering anyone but there seems to be people everywhere we go who hate dogs and that get upset about seeing my pug live his best life.
Edit: I went back and upon further inspection it does look like they have no pets allowed in microscopic font on their sign inside the park. I also clicked under their FAQ on Google and it shows that they do not allow pets. I think it would be better to have signs near the entrance that say no dogs allowed. I understand this park is for children and I think that's great. BUT as someone who has a dog I take everywhere and lots of friends with kids, it's disappointing that I can't just go and chill with everyone and my dog has to...
Read moreThe two stars are for the actual climbing facilities because they are wonderful and well done. But I took off three stars for a few things. The side gate, which is mentioned in another review, is always open and never used. It would be nice if it were closed especially since it's inside the toddler area and lets right off onto the street. There's no drinking fountain. I was kind of shocked and I looked around to make sure I didn't miss it, but no. There's no drinking fountain. In Tennessee in the summer, it feels kind of like a huge oversight to not have a water fountain. The biggest one is the security people they have at the park. The gentleman that's always there emptying the trash and keeping things tidy started yelling at children for not wearing shoes while I was there and got in a big argument with the family who ended up leaving. It terrified my children. It's a public park. Should you wear shoes? Yes. Should there be a watchman enforcing this at a public park? Absolutely not. Another representative from the park was there, and older lady, and she asked me to remove one of my stroller tires from the rubber flooring around the playground. I do not have any disabled children, however isn't this the park for those with disabilities? Are they really saying that wheelchairs and strollers cannot go by the equipment? What's with all the policing? It sure puts a damper on an otherwise...
Read moreThis park has 5 star structures. However, the staff that hover and enforce the ridiculous rules are extremely frustrating. We live 10 minutes away and have been here a few times. Every time we arrive I brace myself for another confrontation with a parks employee who will tell me how to parent my kid and what the many many rules are. This latest visit today was no exception. I parked very close to the gate and was putting shoes on my four year old while my seven year old asked if she could go in the park. I said yes because her aunt was just inside the gate and the park is fully fenced. A park employee stopped my daughter and told her she had to wait for me. I called out to him, letting him know that I gave my daughter permission to enter the park (I was very close to the gate as I said). He insisted that my daughter wait. I proceeded to explain that her aunt was just inside the gate waiting for her. He still wouldn't let her in until I was with her. This heavy-handed management of the park is outrageous and unwelcome. As the parent I should be free to give my child permission to walk less than a dozen steps away from me if I deem it safe for her to do so. I hope they change some rules and re-train their staff to be...
