We had a very disappointing experience at the Morrisville Public Library. I brought my son, who is 4 years and 10 months old, to the Kindergarten–5th grade program—an age range that fits our schedule and aligns with his homeschooling curriculum, as he is currently in kindergarten. The flyer only mentioned grade level, not age.
He sat attentively for the story and was excited to participate in the craft, but was abruptly excluded after a staff member asked his age and he answered honestly, “4 and a half.” Despite my explanation that he’s a young kindergartener just two months away from turning five, they still turned him away.
This was incredibly upsetting to him—he was embarrassed and left in tears. The staff, especially the older woman leading the class, showed zero empathy or flexibility. It was clear that enforcing their interpretation of the rules mattered more than showing basic kindness to a child.
If you’re looking for a place that puts rigid policies ahead of inclusion and emotional intelligence, this is it. I second the other reviewer who said: if you want to make a kid cry, bring them here. If the library staff truly want to serve children and families, they need serious training in both flexibility...
Read moreHelen Y., and her team members are amazing! There are programs for youth, tweens, teenagers, adults and seniors. Marion and I are seniors and recently helped to edit three books. With the help of the librarians, we were able to have 2 books enter into the Wake County Library System. They are written by veterans but are for everyone. The books are. "A Sailor's Letters" and "Shutter Bug", by D Walkaboutdude Moss, aka, Dresden Moss. We also edited, "My Shovel Was My Rifle", on Amazon. We attended Bagels, Bingo & Books (for Seniors): Seniors aged 60 and above can join this event. It takes place on the first Friday of each month at 10:00 AM. Participants enjoy bagels, book talks, and a game of Bingo! Registration is required, so sign up at the front desk 2. At the event, we met the author of WONDERS IN THE SPIRIT. the book (his 8th) will be in the library soon. We also met a Flight Deck Commander for the aircraft Carrier, Kitty Hawk. "Shutter Bug" is the story of the author's service on the Kitty Hawk from 1972-1975. Visit any Wake County Library and you will be richly rewarded. Towne Hall Dr, Morrisville is our...
Read moreStaff was not very helpful in my time of need. I came in 10 minutes before they closed to quickly print one thing and head out. After hitting print, went to machine to grab it. Machine did not have it, so I checked the computer and it was resetting. I asked the librarian and she said “yeah the computers reset 5 minutes before we close.” Checked my watch and didn’t realize the library was closing at 6pm on a Friday but I was also gonna be in and out. So after it reset I went to try to re-login to print it and it told me library was closed! I asked if they could help me at all and she just said “Sorry, nope.” The library wasn’t technically closed yet and all I had to do was pay for the print if the computer had not reset my computer. Ended up just being a waste of time and could’ve been avoided if the computers didn’t reset until the library was...
