Lots of parking The Salinan and Chumash tribes consider Morro Rock to be a sacred site. The Salinan name for Morro Rock is Le'samo and the Chumash name is Lisamu.[10]

The Chumash had an important nearby prehistoric settlement at least as early as the Millingstone Horizon (6500-2000 B.C.E.), and the village was near the mouth of Morro Creek, at the current site of Morro Bay High School. The right of the Salinan people to climb Morro Rock for their biannual solstice ceremonies has been established, in which they celebrate the time in legend when a hawk and a raven destroyed a two-headed serpent-monster Taliyekatapelta as he wrapped his body around the base of the rock.[11] The established Salinan right to climb the rock has been in legal dispute by the local Chumash tribe, which claims that Morro Rock is Chumash, not Salinan, territory.[12] The Chumash also believe that the rock is so sacred that it should never be climbed. Because of its fragility, it is illegal for the general public to...

It's said that from here, 51 years into the future, a young Lucy will take off towards the moon to live out her dream, unfortunately without her boyfriend David as he's burning at the top of Arasaka Tower at the hands of Adam Smasher... All we know is, He really wanted to stay at her house, he hopes it all works out...

For those people who aren't getting the reference, this whole area is used in the game Cyberpunk 2077 and it's spinoff show set one year earlier: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners as the fictional Night City. Morro Rock in this future is redeveloped into a space port where the main love interest of the show, Lucy, goes off to the moon after the death of the protagonist, David Martinez. It's a great show and an...

Beautiful place to visit and hang out with family. There is plenty of parking at this beach. Hotels are just closeby, makes commute pretty easy. What I live the most is that the beach is pet friendly, you can bring your pet along here and have a fun time. If you get bored of sitting at the beach, there are rocks, can catch little crabbies, sea shells or make rock monsters lol. There are a ton of food venues closeby to grab food. Plus, you can get a boat and sail in to the bay. Overall, it's a nice place to visit. Even at the peak season, the beach is not overcrowded unlike popular LA beaches. I highly recommend Morro Bay beach for 2-3 days vacation. Pismo beach isn't far off from here if you want to drive and...

We were driving up PCH and this was a place we wanted to visit. We viewed Morro Rock from the fisherman's pier by the maritime museum. I'm glad we did. Lots of wildlife in the water floating under the pier. We saw sea otters diving for shells and cracking them open. A few sea lions were swimming around. We just made a quick stop, hopped out of the car and spent some time watching the sunset and wildlife before heading on our way. It was definitely a very exciting part of our journey. The town is very small and gone in almost the blink of an eye. To me, this was a little hidden treasure along the way.
