Very small nice town. The beach is nice and on the right side of the Morro rock (beach side) are smaller rocks where the tide comes in and you can find a lot of little animals living there like starfish. On the left side (bay side) is a trail with a small beach and a rock wall that protects the bay a little from the beach. The water sometimes goes over the wall but I've seen people fishing on it. Its not that safe but it's kinda cool 😋 also if you swim there you might see Sea otters or tiger sharks which I think is the best part. The sharks have really small mouths and their bites don't really hurt so you should worry more about sting Ray's & jellyfish just like any other beach in California . So glad I came for a visit haven't been in years but definitely worth it. On my last day we hiked Black Hill. Which was a pretty easy hike but if your not really into hikes you can park basically at the top too & see the whole city of Morro Bay...
Read moreMorro Bay is a great place for those who aren't very fond of large crowds and thousands of tourists getting in the way. It is mostly a quiet little beach town, which is surprising, given how busy the surrounding beaches are in the summer time. There is plenty of free parking, so get out and stretch your legs and walk around the waterfront! A lot of stores and resturaunts close early, but many are still up and running into the late hours. Morro Rock seems like the ideal free overnight parking spot, but don't be fooled as there is no parking from 2am-5am and cops check the area. So if you are looking to get some shut eye, be prepared to leave around 2am. There is a walmart about 20 miles inland from Morro Bay that you can park...
Read moreMorro Rock is a volcanic plug located at the mouth of Morro Harbor, and the southern end of Morro Strand Beach. It's one of nine volcanic plugs that dot the region, which are aptly named the Nine Sisters. It's sheer size is a sight to behold. You can run/walk/bike on the several trails near the base of Morro Rock itself, but we recommend hiking down the beach. From several hundred yards away, the full grandeur of Morro Rock comes into view, as it dramatically contrasts the vibrant California sky. There is ample parking in the region as well as public restrooms. Be aware that Morro Rock may not be visible during the first half of the day due to frequent marine layers, even...
