I was looking for a nail salon and my mom told me that a place I had been previously (she was a long time customer) was under new ownership and she was very pleased with them. The new owners had moved to Lakeland recently and wanted to transition the salon into the same successful business model they followed at their place in Vermont. They wanted to have an appointment only establishment because they felt walk-ins took away from the loyal customers who planned their time to be patrons of their business. They didn't want customers to feel rushed. They relied on quality work and attention to detail to ensure they had a solid client base. I went and was very pleased. I went back every two to three weeks for manicures and pedicures and even began taking my daughter. Until today.
The last week has been stressful. Between the hurricane and working and lack of power and all the other tribulations of Florida life it has been chaotic. My daughter, who had been at my mom's for days (enjoying her AC, internet and cable), suggested a Girl's Day. She said that the three of us should go to lunch and then go get our nails done on my first day off. She called and spoke directly with Kim about booking all three of us. Kim was able to book my mom with Winny, my daughter with Maiya, but said she was now off on Monday's because she wanted to spend more time at home and would no longer be working on Monday and Tuesday. She offered to make my appointment with another employee but I said I would wait because I prefer consistency. I figured I could go later in the week. We went to lunch, I dropped the two of them at the salon and ran home to pick something up for a friend before coming back to join them.
I came back and went inside to join my mom and daughter as they finished up. Two customers walked in for their appointments and a third walked in behind them. Winny looked at the third and said "Hey, you came back early! I can't take you until 5:30." (My mom said she had been a walk-in when she had first gotten there and Winny set the appointment for later in the afternoon. There had been some issue with the client saying she couldn't reach them. Winny even called the number the client said she had been using and it did indeed work but she set the later appointment). This customer said "Kim changed the time and told me to be here at 4:30". Winny then called Kim to talk to her, on speaker phone, and Kim said "I'm almost there. I'm about to pull in. I won't be long."
As I got up to walk out of the salon to wait for my mom and daughter in the car, Kim was getting out of her car to walk in. I know we all have friends and we all make exceptions, however, if you want to build a loyal client base you also need to show loyalty in return. It is unimaginably rude and unprofessional to turn down a client who has been loyal and refuse an appointment after that person tries to follow your business rules and etiquette for a client who contacts you on a whim as a walk-in which is what you say you don't want. Especially when the client you turned down has two other family members following those rules and spending money in your salon and aware that you said "no" to booking an appointment for at that exact time.
Their work was lovely. My mom will probably continue to use their salon because she loves Winny. I did love Kim, but now feel that I can do without being made to feel like I am unworthy of her service and loyalty as a customer. She obviously doesn't practice the business ethics and loyalty she wants her...
Read moreI DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!
So I gave this place two chances before I completed this review.. Anyways, I was on the search for a new nail tech because my nail tech that I’ve been going to for the past few years left the country to help run a family business (so sad that he will not be returning). So I was searching online for places that does good dip powder nails. I came across Fanci nails and the good reviews (majority from the previous management) I called to see if someone was available to do my nails( I was asking for Terry and others who I saw on the reviews). Jason told me the place was under new management, but he assured me that he would do a good job. So I set an appointment with Jason on 10/29. One of my nails broke 3 days later and I couldn’t go back to get it fix because I was leaving to go out of the country for vacation literally the next day. I was thinking to myself maybe it was just a one time mistake I will go back and give him another try. On 11/17 I went back to the shop along with my boyfriend. My boyfriend got a pedicure ( which he enjoyed, due to Jason’s mother in law). I had a pedicure from Jason which was rushed and a sloppy job. I got the deluxe spa pedicure which was $40 and it was not worth it at all ! He also, did my dip powder nails again. This time three of my nails broke by Monday 11/19 and another one on Tuesday 11/20. The nail that cracked on Tuesday is very low and painful. Majority of my natural nail will be coming off! So that’s 4 nails broken in 3 days this is just sloppy work. I called Jason and he simply said “Idk what to tell you, it’s because your natural nails are too long, but I can fix it for you”’mind you my nails have been the same length for years and I’ve been getting dip powder on my natural nails for years and NEVER has this happened! I would not recommend anyone to come here if they’re getting dip...
Read moreSo there was a lot of good and a little bit of bad when it comes to my experience here. I arrived at 11:20am on Sunday. No one was here. Posted hours for Sunday are 11am-5pm. Right when I got back into my car to leave, a young man showed up and opened up shop. (I wish I could remember his name! He was really nice!) He greeted me and my nine year old daughter. We got the pedicures with the scrub, foot massage, etc. The foot massage was GREAT. The young man that did 90% of my pedicure was very likeable and engaged myself and my daughter. An older gentleman (did not catch his name either) did my daughters nails and got finished with hers much quicker than mine. When the man doing my pedicure was cleaning up and helping another customer, the older gentleman took over my nails. Unfortunately, my nails were pretty sloppy. Which makes me sad because when I’m paying $50 for a pedicure, I want the nails to come out right. I can’t help but think if the man who started my pedicure had finished it then they would’ve turned out much better because he was so attentive and didn’t rush through anything. At the end of the day, I would probably give them another chance because of how awesome the...
