Purchased tickets with my mom to see a friend performing with PMJ. We got a couple balcony seats with 0 notice of any obstruction to the view. To our surprise we were greeted with this large obstruction to the exact section my friend would be performing on the stage. We were calm and immediately went to ask for assistance from the staff if we could switch to any other available seats where we could see her perform without this obstruction. We were told to wait and look for any open seats as it got closer to showtime so we did. We were then told we could stand up behind all the seats to watch the performance near security. 5 minutes in, we were rudely told by another staff member to sit down in our assigned seats. We explained our situation again but he was persistent and we took the nearest empty seats hoping nobody was coming late. The majority of the performance we were paranoid that someone would arrive and remove us from these seats when we could have just stayed in the back standing and not blocking anyone. The security even said we were fine where we were. Overall a disappointing experience at the venue even though the performance was amazing.

What a very unique experience they have going on here. A very intimate theater inside of a library. I saw John Butler on 5/12/23 and let me just say this was the perfect setting for his incredible talent. The volunteers and staff were very friendly and welcoming. The venue is obviously very old but that is part of the magic. Pay $2 for a little souvenir cup and you can take your beer into the theater. I’m told you can bring the cup back in future visits so keep the lid and straw. The seats are wooden. It wasn’t unbearable but you are allowed to bring a chair pad with you which is nice they allow that. Parking was in the street. I didn’t put money in any meter- honestly I don’t remember if there was one but I arrived about :30 minutes before doors and there were plenty of spots available. There’s a little park right across the street, you can sit in a bench and wait, maybe bring dinner and have a picnic. I traveled about 3ish hours to visit and I absolutely would do it again.

I attended my first concert at the Carnegie Library Music Hall in Homestead last night. You would never guess that it was there tucked in between the side streets and houses, but there it was. It's a small theater in a quaint setting. The theater seats are worn and you can sense the history in the building. The concert was a very game Living Colour opening for Extreme. Corey Taylor still sings like he's 20 years old. Incredible guitarists and showmanship from both bands. Extreme played well over 90 minutes. For a small venue the crowd was raucous. Everyone was singing along and cheering the roof off. It is a great venue. The one drawback if any is parking. It is off street and can be challenging for someone not from the area. Just be sure to look for a space early. If you like an intimate theater the Carnegie is for you.

Good Morning: I wanted to write a review with the hope that other patrons to the Music Hall don't have the same experience my group had during the Leonid and Friends concert on Monday. First and foremost, my group of 6 were anxious to attend the concert, not only to hear the band but also see the venue. I do understand, it is not a new venue and very much a Pittsburgh landmark. I get it, trust me. However, as I look back, the band was great, the venue was very disappointing regardless of its age.

  1. Several of the seats had exposed raw wood that had separated from the veneer and splintered. While none of us suffered any injury from this, don't you think this is unacceptable to ask patrons to spend their hard-earned dollars to sit on seats where you have to exercise caution as to how you position yourself so as to avoid bodily injury? Unacceptable.

  2. I can't recall which seat it was in our group but the back of the seat became dislodged and actually came completely off the mounting bracket to the point that it was free-moving and we could hold the seat back in front of us. Ridiculous and again, unacceptable.

  3. When called to the attention of the volunteer usher, nothing was done and we got somewhat of an "Oh well, sorry" response. I would think the house manager could have been called to reposition some/all of us.

Personally, I will not return to this venue as it was less than optimal given the poor condition of the theatre seats. While I know repairs can be costly, one should strongly consider making the venue occupiable as opposed to a liability that could cause significant injury to your patrons.

Sunday, September 29 Update: While there is no question, my group had challenges that evening, I am pleased to state that I received a phone call yes, phone call, from Carol at the Carnegie. Carol is the Exec. Director there. Carol was both apologetic and pleasant to speak with about our recent visit. She represented her organization well and did a great job of service recovery. Kudos to Carol and I would be remiss if I did not document her willingness to reach out. Making phone calls vs. an email response was surely appreciated. Kudos to Carol...

I use this facility often; the library and the athletic club. I think it's a great place. My issue is one I shared on Munhall Community Page; which btw the people posting there are allowed to bully and insult the people with views they don't agree with. And the comments they make are quite ignorant and uninformed. However, if you voice an oppostion to their comments you will be blocked, by the Administrator. And it was fruitless to continue to match wits with the witless. But, I digress. My issue is with parking and how the patron's to your venue give little to no respect or regard for the residents near your venue. Although, the the street is a public thoroughfare, which the Munhall Community Page group members seemed to think they were rudely telling me something unknown, I think also that the patron's could do more to not park directly in front of the residents' homes. Most who live in this area don't have garages, driveways or can't pull into their backyards for parking. Some also have disabilities, contrary to what Hal, Krissy and John, among many others on Munhall Community Page call a "minor inconvience" or admonish me to "move." I am not at all sure how any one of them could possibly know to what degree I'm inconvienced. Or how I should move because they said so. I don't have a problem with your patrons parking along the side of my residence, but they do that and along the front, too. If I'm away from home when your event or show is taking place, I have to drive around until I find a space 2 or 3 blocks or farther from my home. Then, I have to wait until whomever has parked, in front of my home to leave before I can park there again. Perhaps you could do more to make patrons mindful of the fact that most of them do not live in this neighborhood. And should be made aware that the resident's own cars too, and should be given first option to park in front of their own homes,...
