Cherokee County Recreation — Attraction in Murphy

Very nice trails either on paved trails thru the park or on well kept gravel trails thru the woods while enjoying the natural beauty, the park has 2 playgrounds,basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, horseshoes, drink machines,tennis courts, rec building with a pool & weight room, & there's always plenty of ducks who love to be fed, & also plenty fish to be caught in the valley river which runs the whole distance of the park, there's also Pavilions to celebrate birthday parties or eat your lunch you cooked out on with 1 of their many grills...its a great place for the family...

Today my family got the news that they were going to do renovations on the park this summer. We had some questions and the nicest employee who went by the name “Peewee” immediately took time out of his day to come here to the park to discuss the future plans of the park, to show us some sketches of the new park (it was beautiful!!) and to answer any questions we had. I thought it was one of the kindest things that this man took time out of his day and immediately came here to help us with all the information. Thank you PeeWee for being part of why we love living...

Nice quiet park. They are trying hard to make this a nice park for the community. I heard the family of Dr. Helen Wells donated the land for the park. She was one of the first women to attend medical school in NC. She and her family were significant to Murphy and NC history. I wish more were done to recognize the truly remarkable people who made Murphy what it was. This is what I have heard I cannot confirm...
