Pros: Good atmosphere and really friendly staff. The bloody mary bar looked cool. Cons: Food was delayed by about an hour and was so-so.
I would have given three stars if the food was better, but an hour delay cannot get more than three stars.
We were staying at a local airbnb and decided to try the Mason Jar for lunch. They were dog friendly and had some indoor seating for people with dogs. We also chose it based on the high google reviews.
After ordering for myself, my wife, and two kids, we waited about an hour before our food came. The waitress came out and checked on us 3 or 4 times, which seemed a little light based on how long we were waiting. They did not explain why there was such a delay, but to be fair, I did not complain to the wait staff. When the waitress came out she was really nice and if the delay had not been so extreme I would not have any complaints at all about the service.
When the food came, it tasted pretty good, though nothing outstanding. There was still some kind of artificial casing on the salami on my son's Italian sandwich. The prices ($12-14 per sandwich) were too high for the quality of the food.
The place has a cool atmosphere and the blood mary bar looked good with some good toppings and good selection of spirits that you can pour yourself. They have really interesting lighting and a stage which creates a good atmosphere for a drink. I would come back for the bloody mary bar or the mimosa bar, but not...
Read moreI'm only writing this part in response to Bryan Innocenti. You were the guy that was spewing racist remarks about hispanic people and then had a meltdown about gay folks and Joe Biden when they asked you to leave after your hate-fueled rant. I don't believe I've seen you hanging around other than that day, so I'm not sure how you would know about their kitchen turnover rate, and for you to say that they'll be out of business soon is just incorrect. You do understand that there are tons of small businesses that can't find good help, right? The folks that do work there deserve a bit more respect because they have families and bills to pay for just like you. You should be ashamed for leaving that horrible review and your behavior when you visited.
Readers, don't read this clown's review and feel discouraged to attend The Mason Bar. The owners are fully capable of accepting responsibility on mistakes and will try to do whatever it takes to make a wrong situation right.
Now for my review, The Mason Bar is great place to hang out with friends, have good food, and enjoy music with the rest of Murphy. The owners have gone out of their way to try and meet everyone from the community and be a big part of it. Hell, if it wasn't for them, pool tables still wouldn't be allowed in Murphy! Mondays are always so much fun with Melissa hosting the open mic night! The staff are always friendly and do their best to make you...
Read morePitiful. Just pitiful. SLOW service. Waited a very long time for our food. Eventually my wife got her side salad, then we waited some more. We heard the bell ring for food in the window, then watched the server go in and out of the kitchen a few times, another server came and went a few times, but finally someone brought our food to us. I ordered a turkey and feta wrap. I expected a cold sandwich. It was grilled like a panini, it was PITIFUL looking. It was tiny, it had ONE slice of turkey in it, no discernable feta cheese, and I'm not a fan of grilled lettuce and hot mayo, so it was as unappetizing as it was unappealing to look at. My side of coleslaw came in the same sized small ramiken as my wife's salad dressing, so two tasty bites there. Our server came by once to refill drinks, but only filled my wife's cup. Neither of us finished our lunch, so asked for to-go boxes, and we got one to share. I opted to do a "custom tip" on the machine, it showed what I was to pay, and after inserting my card the price went up. No advance notice that there would be a card fee anywhere... Since it was just a small amount of money I just let it be. So I wasted valuable time, lousy and slow service, and a pitiful sandwich. I left hungrier and poorer than when I went in. I'd rather...
