It has been an honor and privilege to see BNA grow up over the last 10 years!! The tsa pre is amazing and quick. The parking lots are good. The next exits are hit or miss with traffic. But once inside the food and drink options are great and definitely feel like Nashville. Get to your flights early and enjoy. Great Southwest hub!!!
Nashville International Airport (BNA) is the primary gateway to Music City, located about 7–9 miles east of downtown Nashville. Serving over 23 million travelers in the 2024 fiscal year, it has grown into one of the country’s fastest‑expanding airports .
Terminal & Layout 🛫
BNA features a single terminal building with five concourses—A, B, C, D, and T—and a satellite C concourse reachable via shuttle . The terminal spans four levels: Level 1 for transportation and car rentals, Level 2 for arrivals and baggage claim, Level 3 for departures and security, and Level 4 with lounges and eateries . Security checkpoints are divided into north and south entrances post-renovation, aligning with major carriers to streamline flow .
Expansions & Modernization
Under the transformative “BNA Vision” completed in early 2024, the airport added a spacious grand lobby with an “airwave” roof canopy, a new 6‑gate International Arrivals Facility (IAF) with cutting‑edge CBP areas, a Hilton-branded on-site hotel, and a satellite concourse by October 2023 . Now under the ongoing $1.5 billion “New Horizon” project, Concourse D is being expanded to 11 gates by mid‑2025, and Concourse A will be rebuilt; upgrades include baggage systems and roadway enhancements, with completion anticipated in 2029 .
Airlines & Routes
BNA hosts around 22 airlines and serves approximately 100 nonstop destinations across North America and Europe. Notably, 2025 brings new transatlantic flights to Iceland and Ireland, with direct routes beginning to Reykjavik and Dublin .
Amenities & Passenger Experience
BNA delivers a robust range of amenities: live music on six performance stages, extensive dining options highlighting local flavors (e.g., Hattie’s Hot Chicken, Yazoo Brewery, Ole Red), massage bars, nail salons, meditation and nursing rooms, pet relief zones, and lounges including Delta Sky Club, Admirals Club, and Minute Suites . Free Wi‑Fi and charging stations are ubiquitously available . The concessions program, managed by Fraport USA, promotes 143 ,000 ft² of local-focused dining and retail, with over 45 % by local businesses .
Parking & Ground Transport
Parking options include covered garages at $30/day, surface lots (~$20), valet services, plus shuttles and ride-share pick-up zones. A cell-phone waiting lot and public transit buses add convenience options .
Accolades & Cultural Appeal
BNA ranks consistently among the top U.S. airports; USA Today readers rated it the #2 large airport in America, praising its shopping, dining, and vibrant, music-centric atmosphere . The passenger-friendly design, art installations, and authentic musical touchpoints firmly embed Nashville’s identity into the travel experience.
In summary, BNA perfectly balances significant scale with cultural charm—offering modern infrastructure, impressive amenities, and rich local flavor, securing its emergence as both a functional airport and a...
Read moreI'll preface this review with the fact that this is my first time at this airport (and in Nashville for that matter), and I've been a huge Titans (and Oilers) fan for quite some time, so my review may appear to be biased to some extent because of pure excitement. But it's still an honest review regardless. My family and I arrived at this airport in the late hours on 24 Nov 2024, and departed mid day on 28 Nov 2024. Coming from Las Vegas, it's always unique to be at an airport where you don't see a bunch of slot machines throughout the terminal. I was a little bummed that I wasn't met with an exaggerated amount of Titans' logos throughout the terminal when we arrived, but that's ok.
On the day we departed, we had the opportunity to walk around a lot more and actually see the layout of the airport, to include visiting the stores. Needless to say, I felt that the airport was clean and well-organized. Processing through TSA was seamless - I'm not sure how busy this airport gets and how hectic processing through TSA can be during normal time frames because we traveled on Thanksgiving day.
We especially enjoyed seeing The Titans Press Box immediately after you process through TSA (Titans fan moment here). It was unfortunate that we didn't get to eat/drink here but I suspect we'll make it a point to stop here during our future travels to this airport. All the employees at this airport, from the ticketing counter to the cleaning employees were extremely friendly, which can be hit or miss at different airports. This may be part of the Nashville (southern) personalities/hospitality we had the privilege of enduring while visiting this city.
My experience with the rental car area, from departing the airport to returning the car back to the terminal on the day of our departure was seamless. Using Google Maps to navigate to and from the airport was accurate - so shout out to the folks that keep the information up to date and to the airport staff for minimizing the amount of unbearable construction zones.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this airport. I finally understood how the airport received its "BNA" airport code (always confusing when you see an airport code that is way off to the name of the city you're flying to). Apparently, the "B" is derived from Berry Field during the airport's inception back in 1937 - I suspect people can figure out the "NA" portion of the code and what it stands for. This information was retrieved from Google...so it has to be correct right? Definitely a must-do with respect to visiting this airport and the great city of...
Read moreOn 12/24 upon landing in Nash I took a green cab at BNA, a filthy and disgusting cab! This time there was a glitch and Uber was not working. So I messaged my daughter to tell her I was inside a cab driver and would get there soon, a 11 miles drive. The cab was asking personal questions that made me uncomfortable. The cab driver asked me to navigate him snd to have the sound louder. At one point I was navigating him and he started getting nasty telling me to be quiet because he knew where he was going. I remained quiet and he missed the turn on Chandler then turned on Lebanon making it a longer ride. Conscious of his missing turns i started giving him directions again! 8:36 I had an incoming call from my daughter while arriving at her place but I didn’t answer because I was trying to pay using my cards. using Wells Fargo Card and the card was declined then I pulled out BOFA Card which was declined again. In disbelieve for knowing that I had money on both cards I tried a few more times both cards. The driver kept asking me to press F1 function which I finally told him I was not giving 20% tip. I pressed the “other” function and $1 so I could go to the next screen “pay”. The driver kept re setting the control so he would get moneys that I didn’t want to pay. The driver kept me locked in the car for over 10 min without giving other options. I requested him to help me, to open the car and come to see his paying machine so he would help me to get this done but he told me he couldn’t. After he decided to re se his system and over 10 times of trying the payment went through on one of my cards. By then my family was calling me and came out to the door to receive me since I was taking such a long time. The driver finally opened the door, I heard a click of unlocking door. From 8:11 pm until after 8:36 pm the cab driver made me very uncomfortable and fearful, he was holding me hostage in his cab, knowingly and purposely! Before flying out I went to the cab boot to report the incident and the fact that he locked me in the cab so the woman in charge told me “people sometimes don’t want to pay”, so it’s implied that locking people in the cab is a...
