This is the message I sent 8th and Roast and have not heard back despite sending multiple messages. Not being one to complain… just trying to provide feedback:
To whom it may concern. I live in Woodland-in-Waverly. When you all came to the 8th Ave south location many years ago, I considered it an honor to have you guys as a neighbor. I still do. I love you guys. In fact, I have had many gatherings with friends over a pour over while sitting at a table made by an old bowling lane. This past week, my family and I left for a flight in the early hours of the morning and we were excited to grab a cup of coffee on our way to our destination. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. We awakened and made our way to the airport excited to give the concourse D 8th & R a try. Two Americanos and one soy latte later, we were confused, bewildered, and left trying to figure out what strange taste we tried to stomach while barely sipping our drinks. My mother-in-law did not finish and my wife had to discard her drink altogether. I was embarrassed as I had recommended your coffee over our traditional airport coffee spot (Starbucks). In fact, I was so confused that my confusion turned into curiosity with a “benefit of the doubt” approach. “Perhaps, they just had a bad morning?” I thought to myself as I looked at the reviews only to see many patrons have had similar experiences with the airport location in particular. My embarrassment went from a limited embarrassment with just my own family to a more holistic embarrassment. As a Nashville native, our experience and the seemingly growing experience from your recent patrons as is evidenced from online reviews left me sad. Sad for our city because as I see it, you have a missed opportunity. The opportunity to greet visitors to Music City with the best roast in the city is only leaving guests to Middle Tennessee with a literal bad taste in their mouths. In fact, due to my love for the city and my favorable impressions of 8th & R in the past, I am not writing this publicly. I am choosing to criticize in private and give you all a second chance to make things right at BNA. You can do better. I know it. If there is anything I can do to help, please...
Read moreI went to go get coffee here and whoever the girl was with the excessively long french tip fake nails was rude and acted so inconvenienced by any customer that came up. I'm really not sure why she chose working the cashier at this establishment but I literally came in and said "I know this isn't startbucks but do you have something like a caramel macchiato?" (I was getting the iced coffee for my husband. Her response: This isn't starbucks, eye rolls. "Yes, i understand this isnt' starbucks do you have something similar? "....Cashier continues to roll eyes and looks at the girl next to her " We have iced and hot lattes". At this point, I'm wondering why this person works here to begin with if she can't answer a simple question. So I respond "Look I'm sorry to inconvenience you but I'd like a ice d latte..one with caramel and one with nutella" ..Rolls eyes and rings me up. I then went on to ask for almond milk in my lattes...you would've thought I asked her to move my couch out of my house..LOL...got my receipt and left. The lady behind me in line waiting for her drink was chatting with her daughter " yeah I don't know what her problem is ..lets just get our lattes and go.." .Protip for the cashier: Oprymills is next door along with plenty of other places to work where someone asking you to push a button on a cash register won't be a hard ask for you. Wont be back. Trashy establishment at best with people yelling in the back upset about...

I didn’t choose anything (I like my coffee black), but I think he misheard me and added Nutella to it. The cold brew itself was okay, but with the Nutella it became far too sweet for my taste. I actually drink coffee for the coffee flavor, so this wasn’t what I was looking for.
My boyfriend got a cinnamon roll, which he said was bland and tasted more like slightly sweet bread than a true cinnamon roll. The only flavor came from the icing on top. He also mentioned that he wasn’t asked if he wanted it warmed up, which probably would have helped the overall experience.
On a positive note, the service was quick and the menu is pretty extensive, so they do have a lot of options. But with a mix-up on a simple cold brew and a disappointing cinnamon roll, I wouldn’t be likely to come back to try...
