We went to the Tennessee state fair this weekend and I have to say this is a joke of a fair! Go to the Wilson county fair in tn instead, that is the true state fair of Tennessee. We knew this fair was going to be small from other reviews on yelp, but we wanted to give it a chance and were very disappointed!! This is more like a county fair, it is small and felt unfriendly, it took us 3 hours to see everything and we only stayed around till closing because of the car racing in the grandstand which was really cool. The best parts of it was the animals and the car racing that's it, if it wasn't for the car racing it would not have been worth the money of $5 parking and $8 per adult. There was hardly any food maybe 12 food stands in the food area and a few scattered here and there, There were 3 small buildings total, the art, agriculture, and market building. 3 stages for music or entertainment. Plenty of games and kids rides, but only a few adult rides. There are tons of cows, goats, pigs, chickens, and mules, a few bunnies and sheep, no horses. The horse arena didn't have anything going on saturday, and there was a small kids area with a 4 pet petting zoo by volunteer village. If you are a kid then you would enjoy it, but there is really nothing for the adults to do here. Me and my husband both agreed we won't be coming...
Read moreI don't know about the other reviewers confusion but this fair was great. The fried catfish from one of the smaller food trucks was the best I've ever had and the rides were great. The best part of the fair was the face painting at the top of the hill between the buildings there, its a black tent with huge flags that say face painting. The lady was so nice and I wish we could post pictures because the kids looked amazing. It is worth going back just for the face painting. There's a smaller face painter down the hill by the entrance where we watched for a moment and decided it wasn't for us. Definitely don't get it by the gate when you enter its really sketchy. Other than that the thrill zone had just enough rides for my stomach to handle and they even had a water ride! More than enough to spend the day enjoying and we will be back next year just for the food and face painting at the top...
Read moreTennessee State Fair review. Avoid at all costs. Not a state Fair, a glorified county Fair at best. Very limited food choices, especially fried food. We made this fair part of our vacation from VA and it was a big waste of time and money. Went on Sunday and most of the livestock exhibits were over. The layout of the fairgrounds is a lot of hilly walking. We bought tickets online in advance, printed the tickets out, and had 20 minutes of hassle trying to get into the fair. Parking lot attendants were your typical apathetic types. I would literally pay to not have to go back here again, it was that bad. A real State Fair was on my bucket list, but this amateurish attempt doesn't even come close to making the grade. Would have given it 0 stars if that was an option. This is the place where other State Fairs...
