This place man, if six stars was available I'd give this place six instead of five. This place has a wide variety of things from video games to movies, to comics, to collectible figures, to CD's and Vinyl Records. Not only is this one of the best record shops in Nashville but one of the best in all of Middle Tennessee with LRB in Murfreesboro, Luna Records in Franklin, and in the Nashville area with Grimneys, Phonoluxe, and Black Shag Vintage and Vinyl. I have been here countless times and have come out with a box load of albums you name it Chuck Berry, Hinder, Tom Waits, Kraftwerk, Butthole Surfers, The Weeknd, Jelly Roll, Edwin Starr, Richard Marx, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Booker T. & the MG's, and Outkast just to name a few. Best part is you can trade in any form of media and it can help lower the price of anything you want for trade in value pawn shop style which helps clear out some clutter in my house XD as long as it's in good condition and has some value to it. This is the best location no disrespect to the Madison store or the Murfreesboro store but this one has a big variety of what they got and they tend have live shows every once in a while. The staff here are very informative, friendly, and fun to chat with. To any local or tourist definitely check this place out, I know my friends that were visiting from Virginia really liked this place when they were visiting and left with quite a few things and...
Read moreIt's hard to compete with Ebay these days when it comes to comics. The Great Escape tries with an everyday 25% off back issues but the problem is the comics are already marked up an additional 25-35%. If you are lucky you might be able to find one or two deals on older back issues if they run aq 35% off sale, but for the most part you are better off buying on ebay. The main reason I go to TGE is their back issues and i often leave disappointed. at both of their Nashville stores.
Their heroes statue or CGC comic section is non-existent, which is a big disappointment for a store of this stature.
As far as their used TPB section goes, 25% off some of these is rock solid. I bought three used The Walking Dead TPS which are retail $14.95 for about $5.50 each.
The vinyl section is top-notch and hard to compare to anyone else as they have such a variety and there are very few record stores any more. I've found some classic vinyl for about 25% below online pricing.
The staff are your typical comic book/record store employees. Some are highly knowledgeable about their areas of expertise but many don't like to interact with real people. Asking the gaming guy about comics is like asking a Mexican day laborer for...
Read moreGreat for shopping, absolutely HORRID for selling. I had +300 1999 near mint Pokémon cards and because I was a minor they low-balled terribly. I spent an entire weekend sorting them out and pricing them with 4 websites so I had a good idea of there worth (about $345) but I could accept that they were a store and had to resell them, so I was prepared for them for low-ball me anywhere between $150-$200. I take them up there and the pricer says it won’t be ready until that night. I live 40 miles away so I figured I’d go home and pick up the check the next day. They end up calling me around 2:30 right when I got home. I have to turn around and drive all the way back. When I walk in they offer me $5.65 for the cards, upon looking at my cards after refusing the measly payment I find they never looked through any of the other cards except the rare ones. My friends’ cousin recommended it to me because he said they priced fairly (he got about $150) . It’s obvious they tried to low-ball me because I was a minor. I honestly would...
