China Buffet — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

This is our 1st time at this restaurant (we didn't eat here) at this place today. We didn't even get into the restaurant good enough before we met the rudest waiter, a young man in his early 20s.

We walked in and were about to go to an empty counter we saw in front of us when you walked in. You think that's the counter to check in until you look right and see the men standing there behind protective glass. The young waiter saw us standing waiting and, with a nasty attitude said "it's two of y'all?" He has his pad in his hand and led us to our table. I said, " Yes, it's two of us." If looks could kill. Before I could sit down, my husband was standing, and he said, " What's your drink!" Rushing me. I said, "Can I sit down first?" He says," NO, I have to get your drinks out!" I'm still trying to take my jacket off and get settled, and my husband is still standing watching this dude watching his nastiness stunned. My husband told him to come back so we could figure out what we wanted to drink. He (waiter) gets snappy.

I was so put off at this point. I got up and told my husband we are leaving. There is no way in any hell would I eat nor drink from someone with a nasty attitude and energy like that.

No telling what they would do to our drink. Not to mention what they do to the food, they feed hundreds of people every day. I'm assuming his father (boss) was standing at the front desk looking mean (see where the young man gets his hospitality training from) arms crossed. He could clearly see we were not happy but didn't care, didn't ask us anything, and stood there staring ahead.

This place is absolutely awful!! I'll start by saying it's dirty. Kids are unsupervised in the buffet lines. That is obviously not the establishments fault however they do nothing to manage or correct it. We asked for waters and it was apparent that they used water straight from the tap when they had a perfectly good filtered option from the soda fountain. The food is dreadful. It looks as though it has sat out for hours and the quality shows that it is well past its prime. There was a beef dish that looked ok and I chose to put it on my plate. Upon biting into it is swear it tasted nothing like any beef that I have ever had. My husband tried it and had to spit it into a napkin. I'm not unconvinced that is could have been cat or dog. The won ton soup, kind of hard to mess up, had a good broth however the won tons were slimey and had some attempt at meat in then that didn't taste like anything edible. I couldn't even be polite and spit it into a napkin, it went straight back into the soup cup. I would rather starve than eat here again. Do yourself a favour and go to anywhere but New China Buffet. By the end of the meal I was ready to get out of there. I went up to pay and the man at the register continued a phone call on his personal cell phone. Did not acknowledge me at any time aside from ripping my card out of my hand and running it. I've learned over the years not to "judge a book by its cover" but this one proved me wrong. Not to mention, I love Chinese buffets...namely because I know it's hard to do Chinese food bad. I read a couple reviews online that said positive things so I tried it. I was sorely disappointed. When I walked through the door I was met by an Asain lady who was clearly pissed that she had to be there. She asked me how many then took me you the very back corner of the room passing numerous tables and booths. She asked what I wanted to drink, only I had to ask her to repeat it 2 times because she wasn't looking at me and refused to speak slow enough that I could understand her. As she was walking back up front, she passed the waitress station and yelled "DIET COKE" with more attitude than my teenage daughter. The food was mediocre to yuck. The egg rolls were cold and awful. The overall cleanliness made me feel like I needed to shower after I left. I decided to stop by the restroom on the way out and almost turned around and walked back out. It reminded me of an old gas station bathroom on a back road in the middle of nowhere. It was a mess! Urinal coming off the wall, liquid on the floor, waste basket overflowing, cigarette butts in the sink, etc. It was gross!! Then I went to pay and couldn't believe I was having to pay so much for this experience! What a total disappointment!! I would give this five place negative stars...
