Rude staff, no one wanted to assist me.
I’ve been wanting to get into surfing again for a while as a decent physical hobby after a decade away and decided to hit this place first to buy a board, and everything I’d need to get back into it. (Trunks, rashguard, leash, wax, the whole works)
No one near the surfboard section wanted to assist me at all. Guys were too busy moving two boards back and forth and made it very clear I wouldn’t get any assistance.
No one in the clothes section wanted to help me at all. I wanted to buy trunks and a rashguard, maybe two of each.
The cashiers were unable to check out due to the systems going down, however they also turned their noses up and said all of six words to me in total. The cashier girl just ignored me and stared at her coworker as I tried to checkout.
I gave up at this point, it was very clear by the staff’s behavior they didn’t want to assist me at all so I left and went to another shop down the beach where I bought everything I needed including a brand new board. Sorry I wasn’t the type of clientele your staff wants to assist.
Won’t be returning to Aqua East, it was made clear to me my business wasn’t needed or wanted by the staff. It’s sad because I got my first wetsuit and used board from them ages ago when I was a kid.
I am glad I found another shop who helped me pick a board and everything else I needed and answered all my questions...
Read moreMy wife purchased a pair of shorts from the store while we were in town on vacation. Every time my family goes to the Jacksonville area on vacation we always purchase items from the store. My last visit we spent over $400. The thread started coming out of the shorts upon the first wash. I spent $15 shipping the shorts back to the store and I was assured by the store manager she was going to hold the last pair of shorts for my wife upon receiving the returned shorts. Once the shorts were received back at the store, my wife was contacted and they no longer had the shorts they assured me they would hold for me. The shorts were placed back out for others to purchase. The store manager contacted my wife and asked her to pick another pair of shorts from the website. My wife picked another pair of shorts that she didn't even want from the beginning. I then contacted the store and asked if they would be kind enough to discount the shorts for the inconvenience of shipping the original pair back, selling the pair that was suppose to be on hold and then having her another pair that she had to settle for in the first place. The manager Katie wouldn't even discount the shorts for the inconvenience. I will never shop at that...
Read moreJust moved to Mayport from Tennessee, and haven't surfed in over 12 years. I live 5 min from the beach so I wanted to get back into surfing again and Aqua East is only about 15 min from me. Went in today to get a leash and wax and was immediately greeted and welcomed . When I got upstairs, the guy working up there asked if I needed help or looking for anything and I told him what I was looking for and he showed me the cheapest option and wasn't trying to sale me anything crazy since I told him I was just getting back into it. After that I was able to look around the whole store without any employees over my shoulder which is always nice. Super cool shop and very big selection of boards and clothes. 2 story shop and has a good skate section as well. Their shop shirts are really cool looking too with a lot of color options. Definitely will be going back here and using this place as my regular shop now. If your in town, definitely stop by here and check it out!...
