I just finished eating here with my girlfriend and I was very let down by the service. Went in 8:20pm and there were 5 total tables sat including myself. Was greeted and told to have a seat wherever I pleased. After a few minutes went by our server Amanda came and brought over a couple of food menus and briefly set a drink menu down long enough to hear, “Two sweat teas” before yanking the alcohol menu and rushing off without any other concern. After returning and me having asked for a drink menu she says “Oh yeah we kinda have a drink menu but no cocktail menu, I removed that menu earlier. However if you know what drink you would like you may order it.” Not such a bad thing if after ordering a cosmo for my girlfriend and receiving a drink that was WAAAAY OFF and telling her we did not like the drink she looked at us and says “Do you even know what drink you ordered? It’s only “these two ingredients’ “. This is after she told us to order whatever drink WE ALREADY KNEW because we were revoked of drink menu apparently. We told her we DID NOT want another to which she went and had the bartender start another. Now at this point trying to reach my server, who is rushing around and turning away before she is even done with her sentences, projecting to the staff from across the restaurant that we would NOT LIKE another drink we were brought out another one. The calamari reminded me of a kindergartner who deep fried some shoelaces. Breading falling off and was not hot when brought out. The actual meal was the first highlight of the evening. Ordered blackened shrimp and fried scallops with fried corn and hush puppies. To the chef that prepared my food thank you you did your job perfectly. I wish I could have given the 20% tip I leave having worked in many restaurants myself to the chef and not “Amanda” who I hope was either having a bad day or something cause her service was not worth the tip I’m sure she was hoping she would get and received. Will go one more time to see if things are better...
Read moreWe come to Jax 3 or 4 times a year to see our Son & his wife. We always stop in to 2 dudes to have dinner. Last night was no different in situation but completely different in experience.
The atmosphere was as the same but the food... it was disastrous. I ordered the 2 dude special of Ahi Tuna on seaweed salid over a soft rice patty drizzled with teriyaki glaze. My wife had the grilled Mahi Tuna w roasted vegetables.
My meal came nicely presented but upon digging in, I immediately was hit with the over powering presence of salt and that made everything blend into one taste. The Ahi was oddly textured almost like it was cut wrong or was almost to the point of being unusable as food but good for bait.
My wife's plate came out the same way, it was nicely presented but she got thru 4 bites of the Mahi & vegetables and could not finish it due to the high salt content. She ask me to taste it, it didn't taste right to me, at that time she got up to go to the restroom but came back & ask if we could go, we cashed out at 75 dollars and left, she was in such a hurry she forgot her jacket, the waitress ran it out to us (very thoughtful) and we headed out.
We didn't get 1 mile away and I watched my wife hurl up the food she ate all over the inside of our SUV...
I can't say enough about my disappointment in the restaurant, at 20 to 30 bucks a plate, I expect top quality. This isn't golden corral or shells... I''d rather of ate at long John Silvers then see my wife crying & covered in her own vomit.
We've always had a pleasurable experience here, I have no idea whats happening at this location in Atlantic Beach but it definitely needs looking into by...
Read moreAfter visiting around 8 to 10 times in the new location, I’ve decided this is a restaurant to skip in the future. The fried sides are good, the burgers are large and I’m sure the fish is fresh, but none of that matters when plagued with inconsistencies. From vastly over cooked grilled fish to very underprepared burger patties, to a lack of service. Sometimes everything is fine, sometimes you call to place a to go order and the owner answers by saying “Atlantic beach” instead of “Hello” or “Two Dudes” or even “How May I help you?” I know it’s Atlantic beach. I live there. I called to get service not a confirmation. This final trip I ordered a burger with no bun, cooked medium. My burger returned home barely cooked to rare. I returned to the restaurant and instead of simply admitting fault the owner tried telling me that some people see medium differently than others (which says they don’t care about their inconsistency problems). After I explained the vast difference between medium and what I received, I told him of my other problem of overcooked broiled fish. He says I should have gotten it remade. I say his cooks shouldn’t have sent it out of the kitchen. I work in restaurants. I know food isn’t going to be perfect all the time. I don’t think it should be a 50/50 chance if it’ll be right or not. Luckily the only issue I see with this restaurant can be resolved with a little bit of training and general tightening up, but until that happens I’m done hoping my food will be good. If all you want is a basket of fried food I’d say come to Two Dudes, if you want anything else, go...
