This 1730s Georgian mansion, the Amstel House, was built by wealthiest landowner, Dr. John Finney. It features original woodwork, fine architectural details and an open hearth. A governor lived here; Delaware Signers of the Declaration of Independence stopped in here to meet with friends; George Washington attended a wedding in the parlor.
Special events include A Day in Old New Castle (May), The Hauntings Tour (October) and Spirit of Christmas (December).

To enjoy this museum you must get a ticket at the Welcome Center. The ticket also includes a tour of the Dutch House. The guide tells a lot of neat stories about the houses and the settlement.
