To enjoy this museum you must get a ticket at the Welcome Center. The ticket also includes a tour of the Dutch House. The guide tells a lot of neat stories about the houses and the settlement. The tour was about 2 hours. You can buy tickets in advance or at the welcome center which I recommend cause they show a neat informational video before.

This 1730s Georgian mansion, the Amstel House, was built by wealthiest landowner, Dr. John Finney. It features original woodwork, fine architectural details and an open hearth. A governor lived here; Delaware Signers of the Declaration of Independence stopped in here to meet with friends; George Washington attended a wedding in the parlor.

Special events include A Day in Old New Castle (May), The Hauntings Tour (October) and Spirit of Christmas (December).

Walk-in, guided tours are available April 1 - December 30.

Museum hours: Wednesday - Saturday 10 am - 4 pm. Amstel House tours begin at 10 am, Noon, and 2 pm. Sunday, 12-4. Amstel House tours begin at Noon and 2 pm. Tours are...

This historical house museum is one place that's on the New Castle tour given by the town's historical society. We had an excellent guide named Chuck who shared a wealth of information about the several hundred years of history of this town and it's buildings.Taking the tour, which covers other locations as well, is a must do during a visit to this quaint historical village...
