This 1730s Georgian mansion, the Amstel House, was built by wealthiest landowner, Dr. John Finney. It features original woodwork, fine architectural details and an open hearth. A governor lived here; Delaware Signers of the Declaration of Independence stopped in here to meet with friends; George Washington attended a wedding in the parlor.
Special events include A Day in Old New Castle (May), The Hauntings Tour (October) and Spirit of Christmas (December).
Walk-in, guided tours are available April 1 - December 30.
