Every once in awhile I like to give reviews to people who deserve them whether it’s really good or really bad. Fortunately i am here for the really good!!! I’ve been living around the new castle area for a few years now searching near and far away for a great pizza place. I am a pizza lover like most but in my eyes a good pizza boils down to just a plain old cheese pizza the way it was originally meant to be eaten. If you can nail a solid slice of cheese without all the other fancy frills and ingredients you have got something special. Porto-Fino has been on my radar for a couple years now but sadly I just haven’t gotten over to try them out until last night. I ordered the 14” ultra thin pizza from their menu because I tend to favor a cheese pizza a little bit more well done. So fast forward about 25 minutes and I’m home with the pizza box opened up in front of me. Have you ever opened up a box of pizza and it just looks so good you have to take a picture of it ? I have and I did it last night; i think in my life I’ve maybe only done that 2 other times so yeah super rare. Now for the best part this pizza blew me away it was absolutely delicious. It was crispy yet light and flakey each bite was getting better than the last. I could go in somewhere for a three course meal, be completely full and still make room for at least a couple slices of this pie. I’m mad at myself it took me this long to try Porto-Fino but now I am also very happy that I know what I know. Off the top of my head I can’t think of another pizza place in Delaware that tops the ultra thin cheese pizza I had last night. This might very well be the best pizza in Delaware and I’ve tried a lot of mom & pop pizza shops. Do yourself a favor and go try this place out immediately. If you like your pizza a tad bit more well done order the ultra thin pizza. Don’t be discouraged by the words “well done” it’s crisp yet fresh but it’s not like some of those coal fired pizzas where you are nearly about to chip a tooth Porto-Fino gets it...
Read moreHands down, they serve the best Reuben sandwiches I’ve ever had from an Italian restaurant—juicy corned beef, melty Swiss, tangy sauerkraut, and that perfectly toasted rye bread. It’s a curveball from their Italian classics, but trust me, it’s a home run every time. The food here is consistently mouthwatering, even when I’m grabbing a late-night bite after a long day. No matter the hour, the quality never dips—it’s like they’ve got a magic touch in that kitchen. The portions? Massive. You’re getting serious bang for your buck, especially with their calzones—think golden, doughy perfection stuffed to the brim for prices that feel like a steal. I’m talking low-cost, high-value deliciousness that leaves you full and happy. The service is just as impressive—everyone’s always friendly, quick to help, and genuinely seems to care about your experience, whether you’re dining in or snagging carry-out at 10 p.m. Speaking of late-night orders, though, do yourself a favor and double-check your sauces—sometimes they miss a packet or two in the rush, but it’s a small hiccup in an otherwise flawless operation. Located at 730 Ferry Cut Off St, Porto-Fino is super easy to find, right off the main drag in New Castle, with a big lot out front that’s never short on parking—huge win for convenience. This family-owned spot’s been killing it since 1984, and you can feel the love in every dish. Beyond the Reubens, their pizza’s a knockout—think generous cheese and killer sauce—and the pasta dishes, like their spaghetti with meatballs, are hearty enough to feed you for days. It’s a cozy vibe inside too, with a casual, welcoming feel that’s perfect for a quick lunch or a laid-back dinner with friends. Porto-Fino is my go-to, and after one visit, it’ll be yours too. Seriously, if you’re in New Castle and haven’t stopped by, what are you waiting for? Five stars all the way—tell ‘em I sent you and dig into...
Read moreSo last night we went for our first time. While our waitress was great and I'll with hold her name bc this review isn't about her what so ever. Our food was good I got the old bay and butter boneless wings. But being a pizza place we asked for one small gesture we ordered a large pie for our kids and asked for 3 slices to be cut in small pieces bc we have toddlers , our waitress understood what we wanted bc she has a kid too but when she asked cook or whoever in back bit of language barrier he only cut in half. Ok fine he didn't understand that's ok so our waitress took it upon herself to do so with the PIZZA CUTTER bc it takes 2 sec and is easiest way the woman Manger apparent yelled at our waitress for doing it and told her no and to stop and said it's the customers job to do it!!! Well listen here KAREN we will not be returning to your establishment ever again bc never have I ever been to a pizza place and we always ask and no one ever bats an eye to accommodate a customer. You literally failed as a manager tonight and you are beyond lucky I kept my mouth shut and didn't talk to you I chose to stay quiet to protect our waitress and her job. So maybe this place isn't as kid friendly as you would think. Never again...
