Looked like a great stop to take my girlfriend on a swan boat while at the art museum. Unfortunately the attendant at the stand was rude, got us our boat, and told us we can only go within a 50 foot radius of the dock “because of the hurricane”. However It’s a 100$ charge for them to take 5 minutes to come get us if stuck in weeds if we go any further (lazy!). The main issue is the boat could not turn left so we were stuck going in a clockwise circle for 30 minutes. Ended up going back to the dock to let him know and he just un boarded us, didn’t offer a new boat for the remaining half of our time and said “I’ll have the mechanic check later” as if he isn’t going to turn around and provide the next person with the same unpleasant experience with no refund available. We left far less happy than we came, not recommended at all.
(In response) When you asked if we were done I responded with the steering issue and you pulled us to the dock, said it would be checked out and then said it’s safe to get off now implying we were finished?!! I NEVER said we were done, in fact would have been happy to go back on another boat. If you “would have offered it” why didn’t you? I understand you are protecting your reputation with this reply but instead, I recommend you protect your reputation with good service and...
Read moreOne of the chains came off our bike miles away from the shop. The bikes had chain guards, so it could not be fixed. We had to call the bike shop 5 times and leave 2 messages before someone answered the phone 20 minutes later. Once we finally got a hold of the bike shop, the guy told us that it was not in the company's policy to come get you if you break down and it is 100% the renters responsibility to figure out how to get the bike back to the shop if it breaks down. We were so aggravated and had to walk/carry the broken bike two miles!! We spent the entire rental period walking this broken bike back to the shop. I was so aggravated, I would have left the broken bike on the side of the road, but they kept my ID hostage and would call the cops for theft if we did not figure out a way to get the broken bike back. The man working the stand did not apologize at all, and appeared to be on drugs. The bike company did not refund us since we paid with Groupon, but luckily Groupon's incredible customer service saved the day and...
Read moreGood experience. Glad we decided on 4 hours rather than 1 hour. Plenty of time to explore City Park with my 9 year old. Lots of stops/adventures. She loved the Children’s Museum, Art Museum, mini golf, Cafe De Monde, playground, and fitness equipment area.
The pick up and drop off is the same location as the swan paddle boats, canoes, and kayak rentals. She wasn’t old enough for her own kayak so we chose a double. Way more water ways to explore than I realized. Look at the map in advance. Once you go under the bridge, there’s a lot to explore. I don’t think you can do that on the Swan though (might be wrong).
Bikes, kayak, and gear were in pretty good shape. They provided helmets and locks. You’ll need the locks if you stop anywhere.
Staff service ranged from indifferent to nice. I’d say that was true for everywhere we went in the park.
We mostly felt safe though the edges of the park get a little sketchy. The bike locks worked well though getting them on/off was tough for...
