" This old man I've talked about Broke his own heart, Poured it in the ground Big red tree grew up and out, Throws up its leaves, Spins round and round.

I know all this and more So take your hat off When you're talking to me And be there when I feed the tree

This little squirrel I used to be Slammed her bike down the stairs They put silver where her teeth had been Baby silvertooth, she grins and grins

I know all this and more So take your hat off boy When you're talking to me And be there when I feed the tree

Take your hat off boy When you're talking to me And be there when I feed the tree

This old man I used to be Spins around, around, around the tree Silver baby come to me I'll only hurt you in my dreams

I know all this and I know all this and I know all this and more

So take your hat off boy When you're talking to me And be there when I feed the tree

Take your hat off When you're talking to me And be there when I feed the...

A prestigious oak worthy of its reputation remains untouched by man or time.

At 8 centuries young, this oak stands proud, propped up by the stakes of time and serving as a metaphor to the insignificance of individual human lives in the grand scheme of the natural world.

We find ourselves at a precipice. Perhaps we will kill our species through climate change, a fact we naively propagate as “killing the planet” when in fact the planet is able to restore equilibrium without human intervention; possibly after the self-inflicted demise of its own inhabitants.

My favourite oak tree in the area and certainly worth a...

Unfortunately I lost the pictures on my phone so I couldn't post it but I love these natural beauties. If you are heading to the city park anyway I would recommend that you take the time to walk on the sides and visit both anesman and macdonogh Oaks. I just wish they put some plaques to highlight their significance. These oak trees are between 600 to 800 years old. This year New Orleans is celebrating their 300 year old anniversary. As a point of reference these oaks are at least Double the age...

Of all the trees in City Park the McDonough Oak is likely the oldest and the most majestic. The huge branches have sagged to the ground under their own weight and over time. This tree stood in an ancient forest on this spot long before Europeans arrived or the city was ever considered. A beautiful sight.
