Small space located at a corner confluence of several restaurants. Despite being rather full, the restaurant wasn’t loud or claustrophobic at all. I’d wanted to go here for the past couple years; finally made it. Ordered the ‘All the Dips’ and the roasted cauliflower. The food was pretty decent. The platter featured perfectly flavored baba ghanouj, tasty hummus with garlic aioli, whipped feta, crudite, and a basket of bread that was like manna from heaven. Other than the bread and baba ghanouj, everything else was Goldilocks - not too good, not too bad. Everything was fresh - credit where credit’s due. But the service or lack thereof was so offputting. I won’t go into details. It really doesn’t matter. However, the diners on either side of me spent most of their meals complaining about the horrendous service, too. If you want fresh, slightly above average vegetarian food while being treated like a 4th class human being, go here. Else, many other places have superior food and service.

ZERO COMPLAINTS! Today was my first time at 1000 Figs and it certainly won’t be my last. The staff was friendly and hospitable. The restaurant was quirky, unique, but CLEAN! Self service items were easy to find and accessible. And the food? The food was nothing short of amazing! The flavors were inquisitive and everything we had on our Falafel Feast was delicious. There was no wrong pairings of sauces, dips, or veggies. All the flavors worked well together like a polygamous marriage. The hibiscus tea was as expected but had a slight hint of fermentation that reminded me of kombucha (not a complaint at all). We spent about $60 odd some dollars for 2 people with plenty leftover to bring home to our kids or have for dinner and lunch tomorrow. It’s worth the time, money, and the experience!

Oh. My. Gosh. I’m telling you this is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been in. First of all, the food is outrageously amazing!! Delicious, fresh, healthy, hearty, perfectly spicy and flavorful, just wow. The portions are perfect, and they are presented with love and an eye for detail. There are options for vegans, vegetarians, omnjomnivores and even a poor gluten and dairy free soul like me. Secondly, it’s a super pretty, comfy, cozy, curated and spotlessly clean place. Such a beautiful atmosphere with beautiful art on the walls, healthy and happy plants, tables with silverware drawers!? It’s so gorgeous in here!! And then last but not least: the staff is fantastic! Lovely humans, who do their work with grace and pride. I cannot recommend 1000 figs enough.

Very disappointed in our experience. We had come in a few times when we moved here and the falafal's were great. Portions were decent and staff pretty friendly. Last few times we called in an order to go. Was told it would be 15 minutes. Since it takes about that much time to get there we left right away. We get there and are told our order isnt ready (20 minutes after ordering and not one customer in the store) it ended up being another 18 minutes before we got our food, yes we timed it. We ordered 4 falafel sandwiches and it took almost 45 minutes??? Tonight we decided to order through uber eats. Give them another chance. Was HIGHLY suprised at how bad it was. Got 2 falafel sandwiches and a chicken platter. The falafel sandwiches were alot smaller and smashed in the foil. The chicken platter looked like a total mess. The chicken was 2 small thighs ( I assumed since they were a healthy restaurant it would be white meat, my fault for not checking ), the rice was a bland yellow mushy rice and about a half cup of "veggies/slaw". I really thought with all the seasoning plastered on top the chicken would give it alot of flavor, but it didnt. It was bland and small. I know they have gotten alot of positive reviews, but honestly...

Growing up in a middle eastern family, I am a stickler for authenticity in restaurants that serve the cuisine. Though the menu itself is nice, the food when brought to our table was very lackluster. In the falafel platter, the falafel itself was under cooked on the inside. The flavor and seasoning was ok, but the trademark falafel "crunch" was not there and it being under cooked made it taste like falafel mix. The hummus had too much tahini in it/the overall balance between the tahini, lemon, salt, chickpeas, and garlic was off, making it taste very bland. The tahini sauce for the falafel was basically just watered down tahini(?) with no seasoning whatsoever, which was extremely dissapointing, and had the same balancing issues as the hummus had. I liked the pickles and the toum, which is the only authentic tasting item on the plate. The house bread was basically an unsweetened pancake. The tabbouleh was like a reverse tabbouleh, with 90% of it being the burghul and 10% of it being the parsley/veggies. The service was fine, the restaurant itself was nice, I liked the drawer full of utensils at our seats, but if you're looking for a gentrified version of middle eastern culture, look no further. Seek...

When the new orleans food truck scene started up there were a few standouts and fat falafel was top of the class. That the truck has given rise to this delightful gem in the city is a absolute blessing. Although I may miss hunting down where the truck is operating, after every meal I'm usually too satisfied to miss the food truck experience too much.

The specials are often delightful with the radishes and various soups being a pleasant surprise options when available. I tend towards the falafel platter nearly every time I attend, which consists of enough variety to make it a food experience instead of simply being a meal.

It's a tiny restaurant with big charm from the staff and the experience always feels like a comfort brought to life by the experience every time. The manner of getting your utensils is a great example of how this isn't your typical falafel or "Mediterranean" food experience. They've used their clever and talented minds in working through every element of the restaurant.

I will gladly go to anything opened by Gavin and Theresa as they have managed to do something special with every venture I've had the pleasure...
