BAAD! Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance — Attraction in New York

I am deeply concerned that Yoseli Castillo Fuertes, who is someone associated with this institution, has shared a video that alters the lyrics of the Dominican Republic’s national anthem in a way that many in the Dominican community find offensive and disrespectful. As a national symbol, the anthem deserves to be treated with dignity. When individuals in public education positions engage in such actions, it raises serious questions about their judgment and the values they promote.

This is a wonderful performance space. I've seen many wonderful shows of exciting new & established artists here. They've been producing a variety of festivals yearly like the BAAD Ass Women series, & many more. They also work with local youth & talent. Charles Rice-Gonzalez & Arthur Aviles are wonderful artists themselves & have made a huge contribution to the Bronx & the city at large with their collaboration in this theater.

This spot is a church that was converted into a venue/event space. Its very dark - dark paint, low lighting, candles. I went for an album debut/performance and that could be why the place was so dark - ambiance, maybe? I do think the space would be great for a Halloween party or a masquerade ball, it gives that haunting goth kinda feeling. Parking on the street under the 6 Train - not so great.
