It was not the best experience, initially. My elderly grandmother went alone to buy a bed and returned, thinking she'd gotten a great deal on the price. This was new to her. They had to see her coming because she was sold an $1800 single King mattress and a $130 mattress cover. No frame, box spring, dresser, nightstand, sheets, or nothing. And had the gull to give her financing at nearly $450/mth for 18 mths with $130 down. I was so livid and disheartened because she was targeted and bamboozled for sure shopping solo as an elderly woman. We immediately went back to the store together, declined the contract, and rescinded the transaction professionally. They were SOMETHING ELSE, but fortunately, they rectified the situation, which I appreciated. Lesson learned - Accompany your elderly family members to these stores!
ONLY Read further if you're interested in specifics . . The conversation went EXACTLY like this:
Me: "This is an elderly woman on a fixed income, which you all confirmed when you convinced her to complete a finance application to obtain purchasing power in your store. She can't afford $432 a mth for a mattress."
Him: "In my defense, she made the decision on her own, I didn't make her. She said she liked this one that I showed her, and she wanted it."
Me: "People in hell want ice water, Sir. Did you show her lesser expensive options? I presume all the mattresses in here are good quality, yes? (He shook his head in agreement) I understand what she wanted, but you know she couldn't afford it, yet you sold it to her anyway?"
Him: "She said she'd consider the finance option. But let me say something, wouldn't you want your grandmother to sleep on a comfortable bed?"
Me: I understand, and yes, she should. But what good would it do her if she missed a payment one mth because she has to choose btwn her rent or her mattress payment, for example? God forbid. Y'all wouldn't want to hear about her circumstances. You'd want your money, yes?
Him: OK, I see what...
Read moreThe actual experience in the store was nice and professional, but I am feeling very misled after the fact. We were pushed to defer payments and pay on credit (we actually came to the store with money, but the salesperson didn't even ask about that, so we just went with it because it wasn't a big deal either way) and told that we wouldn't be charged until ONE MONTH after we received our furniture. We were also told we'd receive our furniture (a sleeper sofa and mattress) starting in October.
Well, it's November, and we JUST received our mattress and have been told we won't receive our sofa until January (there's a shipping crisis, that's not Bob's fault). Still, we've been charged on our credit card (which was originally sent to the wrong address even though we JUST got this stuff and won't be getting our other stuff for months. We had to physically go back to the store to get this address, and we were told that, since we received the mattress, there's nothing they can do even though they've gone back on the deal THEY made. We'll pay it, but this leaves a really sour taste in my mouth and makes me want to never buy stuff from Bob's again. You could've been straightforward, but instead you chose this.
So, buy from Bob's at your own peril, and listen CLOSELY to what they say. And if you can, pay cash, because they will charge you ahead of schedule and then shrug as if they didn't just lie.
UPDATE: After talking with my wife, it turns out that we were charged on the credit card they set up for us in the store BEFORE WE EVEN LEFT THE STORE. So we actually had money on the card before the card even arrived. Also, when she went into the store to inquire about this, they totally lied and reneged on the deal. I take my two stars back. Bob's deserves a one star and you SHOULD NOT BUY FROM THEM....
Read moreI don't usually take the time to write reviews but everyone deserves to know how great this Bob's location is. I purchased a full 3 bedroom apt worth of furniture about 8 yrs ago from a different Bob's location. Let's just say my experience with customer service after the purchase & the former Goof proof plan was less than satisfactory & it left my family with a sour opinion of Bob's. Taking a chance I decided to stop by one of the stores out of curiosity since I needed to buy new furniture & I was in the area. I was energetically greeted by Emmanuel (Manny) when I entered the store. Humor upon entering was a great start! He allowed me to look around without being harassed. It is such a turn off to be pressured or followed when you just want to peacefully look around. We would cross paths with witty comments as he was helping other customers and he made sure to answer any questions I had as I was browsing. When I decided on what I wanted I shared my decor vision & he took the time to walk around the store to mix & match pieces so I can get a visual. He even carried an end table across the showroom floor just so I can see if it goes with a couch color & then again to make sure it coordinates with an electric fireplace I purchased as well. He was such a pleasure to shop with that I brought my mom in 2 weeks later. I looked for Manny & was so happy to find out he was working at the store during my next visit. My mom turned her nose up at Bob's before & was not a fan of the store based on my previous experience several years ago BUT she walked out of this Bob's location having purchase a couple pieces & loving her new friend Manny. He is totally my Bob's go to guy. I have & will recommend this location & Manny to anyone looking to...
