I've been a member of ILK Bayside since July 2016. I initially signed up for their 3 class Groupon package but was hooked after my first class. Before I signed up, I was looking for a high intensity cardio workout to compliment my weight lifting regimen. ILK Bayside has proven to be that and much more.
During the first 15 minutes of the 1 hour class, you do high intensity cardio exercises that consists of burpies, squats, push-ups, sit-ups, lunges, etc. These exercises really get your body warmed up and ready for the kickboxing rounds. After a quick stretching session, the last 35-40 minutes consists of kickboxing exercises such as jabs, crosses, hooks, roundhouse kicks, etc. I am always drenched in sweat after every class!
The instructors are all super nice (Mike, John, Stepanie, Liz, Priscilla, Ashley, Nate) and they do their best to get you engaged in a fun and high energy environment. I can honestly say there's never a dull moment in class and I have met and partnered with a lot of awesome people over the past 7 months. They are never judgmental towards anyone no matter what shape you are in. I started at 220 lbs and I'm now down to 180 lbs and they still treat me the same every time I see them. This includes getting on my case when I'm slacking off in class!
The one downside is depending on what time class you attend, it can sometimes get really crowded but that's expected when you're coming into such a fun and friendly environment where everyone can workout and get in shape together!

In high school, I was always pretty active. I played sports, loved running outside, and ate pretty healthily. When freshman year of college rolled around, it definitely took a toll on me. I became skinny fat, but the pounds I gained weren't my biggest concern. It was how I felt physically and mentally. I tried lifting weights, endless hours of cardio, and other group fitness classes but I was constantly tired, lacked the motivation, and would just give up.
Fast forward a few months, I discovered ILKB in my hometown and decided to give it a try on a whim. After the first class, I was hooked and was so excited to go to my next class. I committed to a membership with ILKB Bayside and never looked back. I was shedding the freshman year weight, building muscle, and feeling more positive and confident in myself than I'd ever felt in my life.
It's been almost two years since I've joined and I can say the classes will never be easy, but it's so incredibly worth it. The instructors will push you to your limit so you can become your best self. The best part of being a member at ILKB is you truly feel like you're part of a family. You're in a community surrounded by so many inspiring people going through their own fitness journeys.
I owe so much of my personal progress to ILKB. Joining ILKB Bayside was the push I needed to help me fall back in love...
Read moreILKB Bayside has made such a positive impression on me. I bought the Groupon for classes but then ended up joining after my first class. I usually get bored with the gym and other fitness classes, but ILKB is different. The staff is AMAZING! The instructors are the sweetest people with your best interest at heart. Their workouts are tough and they push you to be in the best shape possible. I noticed that I've been able to do more and more with each class I take so that grueling hour of cardio kickboxing is really worth it. They also always make sure you have the right form when throwing kicks and punches, which I extremely appreciate.
For the past year, I've been taking classes consistently with all of the instructors and I love them all--even the most recent additions! They throw themed parties/events all the time and it makes the studio feel more like a community. Aside from the instructors being awesome, the members at Bayside are completely dedicated and fun to be around! I absolutely do not regret joining and I always look forward to class. I highly recommend it to anyone willing to try something new, needing to relieve stress, or just looking to change up their work...
