THE GYM IS LOCATED IN A SMALL KOREAN MALL AND BATHROOMS ARE OPENED TO THE PUBLIC AND HOMELESS PEOPLE USE IT.... IT IS VERY DIRTY AND SMELLS REALLY BAD On August 24, 2017, during my daily morning routine at the Korean Village fitness in Flushing, Queens, I reached out my hand to grab a hold of my earphones from the cup holder of the treadmill, and I realized that I had been exposed to an acupuncture needle that I had lifted up along with my earphones. I took the needle and approached a gym attendant/associate and informed her of what had happened. I was in a state of concern/panic and left the gym, and continued on my way to work in the city. I called my wife, who is a registered nurse as she was getting off work, and she advised me of the imminent dangers of being exposed to a needle, and urged me to go to the nearest urgent care facility to get blood work and any other preventive measures in the event that the needle may have been used by someone with any number of potentially hazardous illnesses that I may have come in contact with. I proceeded to an urgent care center near my company in the city. Blood work was drawn, and the physician prescribed me prophylactic HIV antiviral medications to take for the next 30 days. The instructions were to have blood work drawn again in 4 weeks and the again in 6 months, as possible antibodies for the HIV and hepatitis illnesses may not be detectable right away and take time to develop should I have contracted them. I was able to capture video footage of the actual needle, as it is being kept and stored at the gym. When I finally was able to receive a text back from the owner of the gym, he was not very cooperative. I asked if he can take a look at the surveillance camera that may have captured footage of the person who placed the needle in the cupholder, in hopes of contacting the person and getting pertinent information about the needle, and more importantly to get health information about the person. I was hoping I would not have go through unnecessary health regimens, test and/or take medications I didn't have to. The owner has refused to review any video footage that is available and has not been very cooperative. I do not think is too much to ask, considering the stress and suffering I am going through, and the months and possible year(s) I will have to continue to deal with the unknown factors concerning my health. Trying to get this resolved quickly is even more important at this particular moment in my life, as my wife and I were in the midst of trying to conceive, but everything has been halted due to this incident. All I ask is for response in a timely and appropriate manner, but the owner has left me no choice but to reach out to the media, as he is not taking this seriously. This is a matter that concerns not only my health, but the safety and health of potential other customers at the gym. I would not want anyone to go through what I have been going through. It is difficult enough as it is, but for the gym and the owner to NOT take responsibility when he has the resources available, is not only careless but heartless. Although the results were negative on the first round of blood work taken the same day of the incident, I am still in the midst of taking the HIV antiviral medications and trying to patiently wait for the four week mark to re-take the tests to see if any of those illnesses are detectable in my body. It is one thing if the gym did not have surveillance footage, but for them to have access and not proactively taking measures to handle the situation is not only irrational, irresponsible, but lacking compassion. I would like to ask for your support and help in bringing this incident to light, so that perhaps the gym and owner can take this matter seriously, and do the right thing, not only for my health concerns, but for the health and safety of all customers at the gym. Also, to be honest my wife and I were trying to have a baby and now we had to stop because the concerns of HIV. We are at a age where time is very important to the health...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI live fairly close to this gym so it is super convenient for me. The gym hours open early and stay open late. Thereās an outdoor parking lot and an indoor basement garage. If you park in the indoor basement garage, thereās a staircase that brings you right up to the entrance of the gym. You enter the gym by fingerprint reader. Right outside, street level, thereās restaurants/bakery coffee shop.
I utilized the gym today, 6:30pm to 7:30 pm and although there were other people exercising, there was still plenty of space for everyone. Thereās also a studio that is designated as a yoga room, no shoes permitted for whatever workout you desire.
Plenty of machines and free weights to use. Plenty of lockers in the locker rooms, bring your own lock. The restroom facilities are right outside of the gym in the hallways. WiFi is provided if you require the internet to stream music for your workout.
I would suggest to bring your own towel. Paper towels with spray disinfectant were available at the front desk. Met eric, he was very cordial and was very helpful with anything he can further provide.
Some of the other reviews here are a little harsh and maybe different explanations . If youāre seeking a place that is in a great, easily accessible area by car or public buses, restaurants and shops near by, fitness center with free weights and machines to strength and cardio train, the fitness center here has it within reason.

On Jan 29, 2016, A friend of mine even got injured while he was in the gym (He hit the clear glass door leading to the bathroom right on the way to the bathroom. If there is a door in front of the bathroom, would that be safer to put a sign to warn people? The door looks so transparent and clear like no anything in front of the bathroom. I am sure my friend is not the only one hitting the glass door) and then he was sent to the emergency room. My friend was bleeding a lot on his face and then there is a ugly scar remaining on his face by the righ eyes. My friend is a decent gentleman, only called the boss for the reimbursement for the co-pay for his emergency visit, even he suffers for days of dizziness and a scar on his face. Later on, the owner responded with irresponsible tone and rude manner, refused to reimburse the $150 co-pay but also threatened my friend by saying that his partner is a cop, and warned my friend not to call back again, feeling like the boss is running the business like mafia. But keep it in mind, this is the United States of America, not China, not Korea, everyone has to operate business under the law. I suggest my friend taking legal actions to sue this immoral...
