Jmart 新世界超市 — Attraction in New York

Me & often my toddler come here a few times several times a week since this place has opened. I very much like the selection. My biggest complaint is when I've gone shopping on Saturdays when they give out the free samples because each & every time they either avoid eye contact at all costs, when I speak to them about how either my son or I would love to try a sample im either told something like, No, this is not for you. , Oh no, you wouldn't like it or something along those lines. All of us in the neighborhood talk & they have the same problems. Some have stopped going completely. I'm not sure if my son & I should keep going to a store where we are not wanted or treated like equals. I have money in my pocket & I eat so why turn me down? Also, the produce is meh.. the fruit isn't sweet. It's often moldy, or not ripe enough so it's bitter/sour or something like that. Much of the vegetables are wilted. I very much like the teas. So I'm torn. There are other stores much like this one. Stores where I haven't been talked down to, given fake smiles, etc. Honesty, the only reason why I have still been shopping there is because of a fairly recent hire. The woman by the door is very friendly. She's the only one who has ever talked to me. That's not true. There has been a man who follows my son & me out of the store. I'm a single parent & disabled. I have no car so I push the wagon to the end of the parking lot. This man has screamed at me & my son. He rushed me to get my baby out of the cart & my groceries out too. Then he stomps off angrily saying who knows what in a different language. At this point, I'm not sure if it's worth it for us to ever go back. While I shop, no one ever helps me here either. Workers have screamed at my 4 year old for being a 4 year old 🙄 I don't let him do whatever he wants but I can't always control him & I don't want to. Let him be a child while he still can. MEAT DEPARTMENT (肉部需要从新管理）: This is a recurring issue for the meat department. The men here are absolutely rude and dishonest.

DISHONESTY- (不诚实) Bait & switch is their regular tricks. I have been a victim for a few times. They display the nice ones in front and have a pile of unwanted and leftover fatty ribs in the back. Their trick is to slip one or 2 into the bag when they pack. However, if you are young, seem nice, and inexperienced, they will just give you the shitty ones. Their slogan is "Every piece is the same". You get yelled and insulted if you ask them to give you the better ones.

RUDENESS- (无礼粗鲁野蛮) Literally like a hour ago. I asked a man (late 40s/ early 50s in glasses and cap) nicely for a plastic bag to pack the loose frozen fish. He told me to go get the vegetable bags about 20 feet away when I'm a foot from his bag. Point is - I explained to him that from my past experience here, the meat bags are thicker to prevent the frozen fish fin from breaking the bag and leaking. Of course he used his slogan that "everything is the same!" and proceed to continue to insult me and berate me loudly even as I walked away! This is way overreacting for asking for a bag!!?

I asked another man who the meat department manager is, because I felt I was borderline being verbally assaulted and he refused to tell... Well, that tells a lot.

But this department needs to retrain their people or replace them! And I'll boycott this place.

And NO, The bags are not the same! even down...

Me, my son & my mom have been going here since it opened. They have a pretty great selection. My son & I go here regularly. The prices aren't bad. I wish the produce was better. I also wish that when I go on Saturdays & they are giving out free samples that anyone would make eye contact with me. I almost stopped going here but I'm giving them another chance after posting this review & I'll kbe voicing my opinion more. Just because I'm not Asian doesn't mean I don't eat the food or drink the drinks. I've been told such things as,"Oh no, this isn't for you", "No. You wouldn't like" & more. I've been given dirty looks, followed around the store as well as the parking lot. I have money in my pocket & i buy every time I go. So why am I treated differently? I think we all know why & it's disgusting. If this doesn't stop, we'll stop going & I'll be posting wherever I can about the way me & my family have been treated at this store so other stop going. Other than that, the cashiers as well as the very nice lady who is almost always by the door is amazing! She's actually been extremely helpful to both...
