Key Food Review â Roach in Chicken & Disrespectful Staff (Rosanna)
I had an absolutely disgusting and disrespectful experience at this Key Food location. I bought chicken, kept it out to thaw, and when we looked at it â there was a roach inside the sealed package. I hadnât even opened it. My partner was the one who saw it and immediately told me.
I went back to the store and asked for a manager. A girl came out â I explained the issue to her. At first, she acted like she understood. Then she asked for a receipt. I didnât have it right away but told her the chicken clearly had the Key Food stamp and this exact store location. I shop here every two days â I live five minutes away, and everyone knows me. She suddenly changed her tone and said, âOh, well I canât give you anything,â like I was begging for something. I told her this isnât about âgiving anything,â this is about the fact that there was a roach in your food.
Then she started giving attitude, refused to give her name, acted like the manager, but when I asked her straight up if she was the manager, she said, âNo, Iâm just here to play soccer and do what Iâm doing to you.â What she was doing was insulting me, making fun of me, talking down to me, keeping her hands in her pockets, and smirking the whole time. She also started saying things in Spanish that I could tell were mocking me. When I asked for her name again, she refused.
I walked further into the store and found a male employee who was actually respectful. He listened to me and told me to come the next morning when the actual manager would be in. He told me the rude girlâs name is Rosanna.
Later, I even found my receipt and went back. I told Rosanna I was going to report this to the health department. She mocked me again and said, âGo ahead. Iâll be proud of it. Even if I found a roach, Iâll tell the health department myself.â
Let me be very clear â this isnât about a refund. This is about food safety, basic decency, and the fact that one of your staff members doesnât care if someone finds a roach inside sealed meat. I was insulted, mocked, and not taken seriously â even though I was bringing up a serious health risk.
This should not be tolerated, and I hope this is investigated properly. I hope the manager will take strict action against her to teach her basic ethics and make key food a safe and hygienic place and also for her to understand the issues are never meant to be escalated it can be resolved by basic understanding and checking the...
Read moreI moved into this neighborhood few years ago yet rarely shopped at this place unless for last mintues products, simply because the prices on most items here are more expensive than other supermarkets within few miles. However with the club member card, you can still get certain items on sale with good prices from time to time. Yet after what I went through with the manager and the cashier today, I really don't know if I ever want to go back to this place even though I literally live a block away. This morning I tried to purchase 2 cartons of Organic Valley whole milk with sticker labeled it was Weekly Special from 10/20 to 10/26 for $5.99 and original price $6.99. Yet at checkout, the lady charged me $7.99 and I was explaining to her that the labeled said it should be $5.99 but no action was taken. Feeling frustrated I walked to the milk aisle and took the sticker and showed it to her which was when the supervisor standing nearby the whole time finally intervened. Unfortunately instead of trying to figure out their mistake, the first thing the manager lady did was trying to deflect the issue on me by accusing me of wrong doing for removing the sticker #####. The least thing they could have done is to own up to their mistake by apologizing for wrongly labeling their items or wrongly marking the prices, which btw is not the first time. From a business perspective, how can I a customer trust that other items in the store also being price marked correctly if this is the way they practice their business? But the whole point is, I would have paid that price for the convenience if the manager lady had handled the situation properly, simply by acknowledging that they made a mistake when labeling the item and apologizing for it, instead of making their customer feel like I was at wrong for doing something they should have done it themselves in the first place. Let's just avoid this store as much...
Read moreIf I could give them a million zero, I would do it . Today I went to this key food around 8.15am.( Friday )only because I saw the organic Pete and Jerry eggs on sale. At the check out it scanned the regular price $9.89 so I told the cashier itâs on sale $7. Then I went to the eggs section and came back with the price sticker to show the cashier. Thatâs when the cashier Called this other girl for help. (Chinese /Korean girl with bleached hair and attitude . I think this girl is one of the owners .)
She immediately asked who removed the sign in a very arrogant, disrespectful and loud way . I said I did it . Then she is more angry and in an arrogant and disrespectful way told me â why did you remove my sign â . Thatâs when I told her , âdonât talk to me like that wayâ, after I said that , she left .
I donât want to give my hard earned money to any business that disrespect and disregard its customers so I told the cashier I donât want any of the stuff and left the store. The managements are very nasty people . They donât know how to talk to the customers.!
I usually shop at stop and shop / Whole Foods for the fresh fruits and vegetables, and all other stuff . Only I came here to buy one Pete and Jerry eggs . I donât recommend any one to shop this keyfood because, You could never find fresh items here, but you can always find a lot of mold and expired items. Their price is very high compare to the other store near any way. They have a strict No return /no ...
