The Statue of Liberty was great but the security checkpoint to get on the boat was less than stellar. Apparently you can have a small knife on the boat but not a pen made of aluminum that can be used to break glass, even though the TSA allows that pen to be carried onto jets that need their windows intact. BTW, there is no written rule on their signs warning that you can't have a pen that might be used to break glass. If they had at least identified glass breakers as prohibited I would've found a place to store my $50.00 pen. They give you little choice, you can choose to leave & return without your pen or give it to them to lock in a box they "don't have a key to" to return it to its rightful owner instead of whoever decides they want it from the security staff. I can kill with the knife blades they allow, but God forbid I break the window in a floating boat. Not happy with them at all. If they allowed a minus rating I'd give it to the security there. As a former police office & long time security director I fail to see good customer service at Liberty Park ferry terminal. Very unimpressed, seems they make the rules as they go along with no choice but to comply after standing in line...

My wife and I took our kids here for my son's birthday. He had a blast and our younger ones loved it too. So much for them to do and interact with. Went around the wobbly world (I liked the stroller parking), there was a foam and blocks play area; on the 3rd floor seeing the animals and model trains which may have been their favorites. There was a couple small shows we didn't need to pay extra for that kept there attention for a little while, but were definitely meant for kids a little older. This was our first time going and we'll definitely be back and do a show/special exhibit. One tip for other first timers or going for your first time with kids, bring snacks/your own food. The cafe was really expensive for what we got, but at least all my...
