Central park is such a nice place to unwind, specially from the rudeness of new yorkers LOL loved the park, loved the place my advise: stay away from the halal food trucks they are rude, the rip you off and you are much better and safe here!

This facility needs a lot of work in my opinion

The first thing that needs improvement is the health of the trees, which are directly affected by the presence of the building and the operations facilitated by the building, the soil and roots of the trees there are being compacted persistently, which eventually causes the large trees there to lose large limbs in the heavy winds

Because the Conservancy has a presence here they are always making loads of noise and air pollution with their combustion engines; lawn mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, trucks, carts etc. They really need to make more of an effort to discontinue their use of combustion engines and focus more on tree care than lawn care I think that the conservancy could mobilize and decentralize operations in order to reduce their impact on the trees and the animals

Le Pain Quotidien isn’t much better, they are always revolving staff that isn’t very well paid, trained, or qualified to maintain their section of the facility, it is primarily their responsibility to clean the public restroom there but they don’t have the first clue about to effectively do that, they also don’t have the communication skills to begin to talk about upgrading their practices and protocols. There should especially be a woman designated for cleaning and serving in the women’s room and a man designated for cleaning and serving in the men’s room

The lawn sports club is relatively decent compared to the other two organizational occupants of the mineral springs facility though I do wish that they would do more to improve the security in their section, there was a security camera there before but it was removed and not replaced. Around the corner where the large green tool boxes are is a constantly persistent filth because there is no accountability in that space so very often people, even le pain employees, are doing illegal acts and leaving the trash behind as evidence

Ultimately the Parks Department and the NYPD are supposed to be responsible for enforcement in the area but neither are apparently interested or competent enough to solve the problems that have been occurring here for the last 6 years

A few of the other issues at this place that are worth mentioning are:

  1. the pay phones near the restrooms don’t work so they should be either repaired or removed
  2. some utility line, I think phone line, above the large green toolboxes near the lawn sports club has been severed presumably by someone attempting to steal copper wiring
  3. the lamps in the area do not work consistently at night

I could write a lot more about what needs to be done here but that’s all I will for now

I have personally made a tremendous effort to solve these problems and begin conversations about solutions but since the staff is not properly supported intellectually, emotionally, and financially they have no real interest in realizing the full potential of this very valuable location

Perhaps I’ll try to add some extra photos so that we can more effectively crowd source the innovation...

A long time favorite! Best place for coffee and lunch in the park. Sometimes crowded but so well located it's worth the wait. Next to Sheep Meadow, Public restrooms. Quick was small and barely warm but ambiance on a nice day...
