We went to this spot for a tasty event. This restaurant was not under my radar, so it was good to discover a new spot. It had a simple, modern exterior, nothing too fancy but elegantly done.
The first area at the entrance is more lounge-type dining set up, with a bar next to it. The bar is not massive so that they don’t take up too much space of the restaurant. Most of the space is allocated for dining, which allows more seating and more customers.
At the back of the restaurant, they had more dining space. This is the area where we used for our event. A great area for a private party. They had a good amount of seating, and the center of the room was kept open for the event. I am not sure if this is the way it usually look when it is not used as an event space.
We started off with the event with wines. Lots and lots of wines! The staff kept pouring more and more wines, as it seems like we were all wine lovers. They had Rosé and Riesling wines.
And the food, my goodness, soooooo much food! We had Chicken Liver Mousse with pecan pomegranate, Housemade Flatbread with Ricotta, Bacon, and Broccolini,Fried Mushroom Risotto, Deviled Eggs with spicy pickled pepper, and so many more! Interesting item to note was Black Bean Burgers, some referred to them as Black Bean “Sliders.” It was bigger than normal sliders, but a bit smaller than a burger. Would this be a “Burder” or “Sliger”???
Now, this one was one of my favorite of the evening. What looked like a Buffalo Chicken at a quick glance, but it was Buffalo Style Cauliflower! It was really tasty, I never had cauliflowers this way, and it was great! The cauliflowers were cooked just right, not too firm nor too soft. Very addicting and what a great alternative to buffalo chicken.
The best of the best was their Fried Chicken to die for! It was so tasty and delicious, we could've eating a huge plateful if we could...
The manager (?) came around towards the end to see if we all enjoyed the food. All the staffs were really nice, friendly and polite. They took a really nice care of us. It was a fun and tasty event, we had a good time here and we felt welcomed the...
Read moreI came for a nice dinner, and left DISAPPOINTED, OFFENDED, and ANGRY. Take your business elsewhere… Let me tell you why.
The food was good, fine. The service was ATROCIOUS. Michael was our server. He didn’t check in once. When he finally came over at the end of our meal, I showed him that my glass of wine he served me was filled with disgusting grape rinds and sediment.. he served me the bottom of the bottle and it was NASTY. When I told him, he wasn’t apologetic, he was RUDE and NASTY. Sebastian, the manager, who I will get to soon, was passing by and heard me and made it right.
Fast forward 5 seconds… Michael is loudly cursing about me and mocking me and my honest complaint to his fellow wait staff, purposefully loud enough for me to hear. How RUDE. I won’t accept this behavior. So I asked for the manager and Michael reluctantly sent Sebastian back over after again mocking me rudely so that I can hear. WHAT?!! At an establishment like The Ribbon?! Are you kidding me?! I was PISSED.
Sebastian was unable to tame this angry waiter and he started to SHOUT at me. WHAT!?!! Sebastian told me he was sorry and tried his best. He gave us a discount and thought that was enough. It’s not. He was completely unable to manage his staff, and resolve this situation. He did not manage, he didn’t do anything while Michael continued to shout at me. I told him why this was unacceptable. I shouldn’t have to tell him how to do his job.
Unfortunately Michael isn’t fit to do his job, this is a service industry and all he can serve is a terrible attitude and piss poor drinks.
Sebastian, as I told you, here is my review that I told you I would write. I truly hope this is reported to your manager.
I’ll never come back. And anyone reading this...
Read moreThis place was a nice joint to step into to take a load off. I wasn't expecting much in the concept of food anyway and got exactly that. The food was OK and so was the service. The atmosphere was a drag. Maybe I was just there on the wrong night or something. Moving along... I'm not sure if it's just me or NYC, but the taste of food has severely declined (at least in most of manhattan). Y'all have absolutely no idea how many restaurants (high-end) my family and I have been to, and my gosh, the food in most of them have been just mediocre. It got so bad that I started apologizing to my loved ones as though I was back there in the kitchen cooking. We started convincing ourselves that it's just because our taste buds are different because it's not what we're used to, but I think that's just what we've decided to tell ourselves to ease the blow of spending over 2-3+ hundred bucks (not to mention a great tip. I tip great even if the food is trash) on food that we'll live to regret before it even gets to digest. I'm appalled. Especially thinking about how so many of these restaurants did not survive covid. This is what we're left with? Restaurants putting in so little care in their establishment and effortlessly cooking with no seasoning? Or adding too much salt because that's the only seasoning they believe exists? Not to mention, the drinks are non-refillable. We can't even have the decency of washing the food down, right. I wish I had a better review, but it was just basic. Thankfully, for this place, their not that category alone. There's plenty of restaurants like them, in...
