This is one of my more favorite places in the Bronx, PERIOD. Lots of different walks of life frequent this area, and if you wanted to expose yourself to many different cultures that are now currently native to to Bronx's overall population then this would be a good place to visit. I believe it is run and maintained by the New York City Parks Department, and has I believe two different full court basketball courts, which at any given time, especially during the spring and summer months of April, May, June, July, August, September, and even October, Mott Playground could be the host to some pretty serious, highly intense games of local basketball. Read moreIt's sectioned off from what seems to be an elementary school, two basketball hoops parallel to one another, alongside a fenced handball court.
There's an outhouse for restroom and storage as well as a playground for young children, along with a sprinkler.. not sure that this is calisthenic appropriate design but I'm sure one could make it work.
The cops are parked outside of Mott 24/7. No trouble usually occurs.
