Sahara Cafe — Restaurant in New York

The first time I came to this place I thought the happy hour deals were great, but the service at the bar was horrible. We ordered a few appetizers and were not happy to see a hair in our monfongitos. We let the bartender know and he returned it to the kitchen. Later we received a new plate and found another hair!!! But tonight I wanted to give it another try with a new friend and I’m so disappointed. The bartender wasn’t friendly just like last time. I ordered two appetizers and only received one. The I ordered a third appetizer (pork tacos) and received beef tacos. When asked to switch I was given an attitude but still haven’t received the 2nd appetizer I ordered! When my third appetizers (I was giving the chicken mofongitos another try.) it wasn’t even what I wanted. Smh. Never again. It’s a shame because the decor is actually nice but staff not welcoming at all. Being a little nicer, learning a little more about a good dining experience could help some of the employees working in this business. It has potential, but you need to make sure your team can give service with knowledge and interest into anything you are trying to sell to a customer. To hopefully make them come back.

Do NOT go here if you are looking for any sort of satisfactory customer service. Went this Friday night around 8pm with a couple of coworkers. We walked in to sit at the bar where we received no greeting from two bartenders. We had to ask if they still had a happy hour to give us those menus. Bartender ID'd all of us AFTER serving our drinks. The whole time shorty was on her cell phone taking selfies with her headphones on. When the check came around nothing was happy hour price because "the computer system" has it set up that way. The bartender was confused, reluctant, and careless about overriding the price. I had to go through the process of asking for a manager and speaking to BOTH of them about the happy hour they're advertising in order to get a price change. I had a pointless conversation with two stupid people. We split the check with one card and cash. The funds were HANDED to this raggedy bartender. In the end she forgot about the cash and charged everything to the card. Not sure what kind of energy and foundations this place has. I highly recommend you go somewhere else, Tabaco y Ron is right...

Very nice and chill spot..closes at 11 due to Covid..strong drinks had to end the night early due to mixing the wrong drinks lol ..good hookah for $25 which is separate from the bill, only had mango flavor when we arrived but it was close to closing so understandable..we ate somewhere else but the food looked good can’t speak on taste..nice staff they come to the table to talk with you but still attentive to other guest..need a spot to go to after work, weekday or weekend or just to chill with friends..highly recommend just be careful with the drinks unless you have high...
