I would’ve had a terrible birth experience as a first time mom if I would’ve let Dr. Rosemary Ruggiero Deliver my baby. I’m so happy I fire her! I had the physician assistant deliver my baby. I would’ve had the front desk deliver if needed to. She insisted to keep on giving me cervical checks every 2 hours… NOT MEDICALLY NECCESSARY.. not legal & not law: instead she said it’s “hospital policy” and that it must be done. I told her that I’m refusing (my body MY choice) she said basically I should’ve had my baby at home then. (I came into the hospital at 6cm! As a FTM I wasn’t to sure I was in labor so I decided to just make sure. Now that I know- I would definetly consider it than being stressed out by these MONEY HUNGRY “doctors”. She pretty much wanted me to get a C section .. didn’t even give my baby a chance. I told the nurse to let me change positions to sit up in the king throne position instead of on my side as the epidural slowed everything down once I got to the hospital. Literally he came down instantly: but instead she kept trying to send in black nurses to talk me into multiple black nurses after I told her no and as if that would make a difference. I regret them having to break my water so soon only 3 hours after I go there. They were trying to rush everything literally. Everything was fine with me & baby: I asked her medically reasoning for wanting to give cervical checks every 2 HOURS as it leads to infection! Which then leads to C SECTION which I’m sure she was hoping for to have a big pay day .. she just stated studies from a text book.. I said what IS MYYYYY reasoning.. couldn’t answer and said I’ll be back in 2 hours. I told the nurses she wouldn’t deliver me! & I even the the supervisor of the floor that she wouldn’t. Rosemary even lied to my face and said that multiple consistent every 2 hour cervix check doesn’t lead to infection because the gloves are sterile.” I knew then she wouldn’t be delivering my baby or touching me! I’m so happy I stood up for myself and ADVOCATED FOR MYSELF. Besides that witch, the birth team was amazing!! Supportive and follow my birth plan to the best of there ability. I initially allowed 3 cervix checks (one at admission, one 2 hours later and then that’s it because I learned from my doula, my OBGYN, multiple research & videos that I can lead to infection & intervention. In the end; I did end up having an infection (I should’ve gotten no cervix check) but. But Rosemary overall tone when talking to you was very condescending and every FTM or even second or 3rd time worse nightmare. I ended up getting transfer to NYU LANGONE in mnahttan and the postpartum care was sooo much better then the Brooklyn location. I would’ve hated my postpartum care at the Brooklyn location. I literally had 6 different nurses in under a hour and it was overhelming. No medication given until a lady coming to check my blood pressure had to help me in the bathroom before I collapse after delivering and she got my nurse to give me pain medication The nurse at NYU manhttan told me why I let them check my cervix so much. So just save your time and go to NYU LANGONE MANHATTAN! Postpartum room was private. 3 stars for my delivery team minus the witch. They all was great as well as the nurses in labor & delivery at both Brooklyn & manhattan who told me I don’t have to have anything I don’t want to. #birth

This is for those who are here for labor and delivery, as well as private room stay after the birth of your child. Please keep in mind that your friends and family will not be able to effectively celebrate this amazing milestone with you, for the staff here implemented a rule to limit only two visitors allowed. Despite my wife giving birth to my child, me being their father actually counts as one of the visitors, which in essence means you're only allowed to bring ONE visitor. Since my wife is obviously bed bound after giving birth, only I was able to bring our visitor up to our room, which is located on the labor and delivery floor with various sections and can be extremely confusing to people who has never been here and people who don't speak great English. The hospital and staff claims that the two visitors rule is to prevent the spread of Covid, which would be understandable if the staff actually took preventative measures to curb the spread of Covid. As you can see in the pictures, the checkin staff and the security guards all do not wear a mask when interacting with potentially vulnerable people seeking sensitive care at NYU Langone...as a result, our friends and family had to take turns going in one at a time, which prevented families and couples from sharing in this amazing new experience together with their loved ones... I really thought NYU Langone stood for excellence and optimizing patient care and enhancing the quality of life of its patients, but this experience had shown me how rigid, insensitive, and lack of empathy the staff are. They don't care about protecting patients from Covid, nor do they care about keeping families together; if their policy dictates it, their staff would relentlessly and cruelly split families apart.. Below are pictures showing just how contradictory their rules are and how their own staff don't even care to protect the vulnerable.

I gave birth to my son at NYU Langone in August 2021. I had a great experience mainly because of my delivery nurse Lormina. She was amazing!!! Professional and kind, she was attentive to all my needs. She allowed me to stand during labor, brought me a fitball to balance on and taught me breathing. Not like I listened to her the whole time, but she tried her best. She made me feel confident and calm, as I gave birth to an amazing baby boy. He was big, healthy and beautiful. I also noted some positive changes on the mother and baby unit, from my last delivery experience in 2016. This time, all the healthcare members were encouraged to breastfeed, there was no formula advertising and no commercial product for it. The lactating specialist came by, she chatted with me nicely and helped to get a better latch for the baby. I have to say, it was pretty relaxing to stay at the mother and baby unit. The food was not bad at all for a hospital, including choices you can select from. I would have stayed an extra day or two, if it was free. It felt like a nice place to recover. A peaceful place away from the chaos of the world. I have good memories of NYU Lutheran. There is not much more I can expect from a modern city hospital, really. Thanks for all the nurses, nurse assistance and to Lormina specifically.

When I was looking for a place to have a baby, I looked at reviews and did not find many for this hospital for labor and delivery. The lack of reviews here, compared with the many positive reviews for another hospital, almost made me refrain from choosing this one. In the end, proximity to my home and the fact that I really liked the doctor who delivered here made me choose this hospital. Now that I have given birth here, I would like to write a detailed review to provide some of the information that I had wish was available when I was looking for a place.

I came here for an induction at 2 pm. Things did not really start going until 4 pm, but it was going to be a long night anyway so the waiting wasn't really an issue since I was brought to a room quite promptly. Even though there were several other women also in labor, the ward was very quiet, probably due to good sound proofing. The nurses seem to change shifts twice a day, so within each 12 hour period I had a new nurse. All of the nurses I had were really friendly and made me feel comfortable. Most importantly, I felt like my concerns were heard and preferences were adhered to. They have a very culturally and linguistically diverse staff. They asked me my preferences for pain medication, and whether I wanted baby to do skin to skin right away.

What I didn't like, but seems standard for US hospitals, is that they did not allow me to have anything except for clear liquids after the induction started. I had my last baby in Switzerland and was allowed to eat as I wanted to, just told not to eat too much. They provided broth, horrible jello, and some apple drink with a lot of sugar.

Through each procedure, someone would explain to me what was going on, and what I could expect to feel. This was important to me since several of these procedures are pretty painful, and it was nice to have someone to help me breathe through it and be aware of what to expect.

The hospital took measures to protect us from COVID-19. All patients are tested, and I got my results within an hour. Since I was negative, I did not have to keep my mask on during my labor. My husband kept his on though since he was not tested. Because of COVID, I was only allowed one visitor, and unfortunately my 2 year old son could not visit at all, but that is understandable given the circumstances.

After my baby was born, we were moved to a recovery room. The recovery rooms are shared, but because of COVID we opted to just pay for a private room. We wanted early discharge so that I could go home to see my son, so it would only be 24 hours. The rate for a private room starts at 300 per night, and goes up depending on the size of the room.

The nurses in recovery were also nice, and the hospital food was better than I expected. It's hard to rest since someone comes in to check on various things every two hours at least, but I understand that if you are a person who has complications postpartum that is probably important. They have a nursery available so that if you want to take a break, they will take the baby so you can sleep better. They are also very supportive of breastfeeding, and even had a lactation consultant come visit and ask if I had any questions. The nurses and staff were all so responsive and friendly. I am really happy that I choose to have...

Everyone in this hospital was unprofessional neglectful and inconsiderate. The only professional and respectful one was the xray employee. Me and Cristina Marroquin came in an ambulance due to a car accident that was not our fault as soon as we arrived a nurse says “omg another one” in a rude manner. We were both polite and in very much pain. We were waiting for quite a while prior to us getting sent to the back. Even though I complained of dizziness. I was not checked right away. No sympathy whatsoever. No medicines were given until hours later. My stretchers sheet had another’s patients blood on it. Disgusting! Nurse Eric was very rude he came to get me for X-rays hours later they had forgotten I even needed X-rays done. He walked in front of me on the way to X-rays I am not from NY we’re from NJ. I had no idea where I was going in the hospital, I have never been there and due to my pain I couldn’t walk fast. No wheelchair transport at all. When I finally caught up to him I approached him and I stated “you left me behind” and his answer was “this hospital ain’t that big you would have found it sooner or later” that was very rude and unprofessional. As I was waiting for X-rays there was a nurse mimicking and making fun of the patients pain. That’s very unprofessional. I work in a hospital myself and I will never treat a patient the way that your employees treated that day. Or the way that they treated other patients. We were there for hours. From the moment I was dropped off with the ambulance I was complaining of very sharp neck pain that traveled to my spine. I told the doctor of course and no X-rays were done of my neck whatsoever only X-rays done were chest, ribs and right shoulder! I should sue you guys for malpractice. I now need therapy and X-rays of my neck because your hospital was neglectful. My doctors were Ryan J Sieli, MD and a Joseph Zurich, PA. Both were unprofessional, very rough with my painful neck I even screamed when examined because the pain was unbearable and they were not gentle whatsoever. Both of them were very rude and neglectful. Nurses were so unorganized that they were yelling patients first and last name all down the halls what happened to hippa? A nurse came in and confused me and Mrs. Marroquin. In all reality I would never step foot in that hospital again. You guys need to do better for the people and the community. A lawsuit may be on your way because of how neglectful everyone was. I would like to speak to someone about my horrendous experience in this...
