To me it has changed a lot this store in Richmond Road. Some of the people were nice most were arrogant discourteous and even rude especially the older guy in the meat department. Upon Entering the store I was looking in the meat department and was trying to find out if they had prime meat or not , I didn't get this guy's name, but I was in the retail business for a long time and nobody treats a customer the way that he treated me if this happened in my stores I would have fired the guy on the spot! All I inquired about was if they carried prime meat ? This guy who I won't call a gentleman just said I don't like prime meat we have choice meat here it's too fatty, My answer to him was I'm not asking you what you like I'm asking if you carry prime meat because it's my money and it's how I choose to spend it . Then he just rudely left and then I saw another meat case , which he never told me about , because I guess he really didn't care if I purchased anything or not . okay so I was inquiring with the person behind the counter if that was prime or not, it looked closer to prime . the people behind the counter didn't really know (poor training by Mr. Rude ) so they said I'll ask. So out comes the rude guy again, he says to me I told you we don't carry prime meat. This is not the way you talk to a customer, in the retail business it's all about making sales . now I understand, I can speak English that they didn't carry prime meat, but if he would have directed me or told me told me that they have aged choice meat in another meat case I might have purchased some steaks there. I wasn't rude it's just common courtesy to treat a customer with respect which he did not , he in return lost a customer I will never return to the store because of his attitude is arrogance and how crudely I was treated just because I was asking about prime meat and I was willing to spend the money or whatever it takes, what a way to treat a customer! Good luck to you guys it's not the way retail works Maybe you don't need customers anymore and you're too full of...
Read more2 of my last 3 visits have been horrible. Management has true customer service issues as in has no clue how to treat customers appropriately. Christmas eve I waited 45 minutes for my catering order. Was supposed to be ready by 10am. 12 noon not done. Instead of being honest I got attitude they were busy. So in total I WAITED 90 minutes. Not once "manager" apologize. The other nighg I arrived at 5:50pm store closes st 6:30pm I was told (Yes same nasty chip on shoulder "manager") the machines had been sanitized already so they weren't cutting any more meats. I ask but you close at 6:30pm right? Yes but it takes time to clean...no one was cleaning so what time exactly do you start cleaning that you were done 40 FORTY minutes before closing???? You can hide behind the franchise name and quality specialty items for only so long. Staten Island is full of Italian specialty stores...people come back for CUSTOMER service. Never had an issue at the Forest Ave Pastosa maybe management/owner should go & learn how to treat customers...
Read moreSimply spectacular. It's like taking a trip back to Bensonhurst or Gravesend, Brooklyn in the 80's. Everything is made fresh daily. Dozens of specialty hot foods, dried salami's, cheeses, imported Italian-packaged specialty items, pastas and of course, freshly made manicottis and raviolis to choose from. They also have dozens of fresh frozen specialty raviolis, like butternut squash and lobster. The butcher department is kept meticulously with very diverse cuts of meat, including some rather intimidating aged Tomahawk steak. Sausages include, links, rings and patties in different varieties; plain, fennel, broccoli d'rabe, parsely and cheese and hot. I could go on, but honestly, you need to experience it yourself. While all the Pastosas are wonderful including their NJ locations, I strongly suggest the Richmond Road location, it's my personal favorite. Once you build a rapport with the staff you'll never want to go...
