Retro Fitness — Attraction in New York

Oh where tf do I start. Gym smells like pure ah honestly plz invest in some air ventricular or some windows or something man seriously plz literally no air flow in the gym the smell is just trapped in tie gym. Even if you can’t fix the machines just fix the dam air system. I’m always leaving the gym with my clothes and my bag smelling like combination of peoples sweat. Gym equipment is never clean and always broken. I go in the gym wanting to hit chest but my fav chest fly machine has been covered w caution tape for months so that just ruins my workout. Also the machines are super old plz invest in some new machines. I always hated the retro fitness brand color yellow and red is just not the color I want to see at a gym very terrible choice of color to whoever thought it was a good idea to pick such hideous colors. You literally could’ve just gone all black which would’ve been much better but no let’s do yellow and red like bro what. But again plz invest in some new machines. Good thing about this Gym is that there are alot of baddies which is the only reason that makes me want to keep going to this gym honestly. But overall decent gym layout could be alot better if it was well taken care of.

We spend a lot of our time in the gym and the least you can do it keep it well maintained. it seems like management doesn’t really care for their people to make this gym a better place to make it a place where it feels like home but hey I can only do so much. Management needs to be fired dude is outta shape that alone should be the reason he should be fired like how are you managing a gym if you don’t even workout. You don’t know what’s it like to workout so you wouldn’t know what a daily gym goes goes through. That just tells me everything you need to know about the guy managing this gym. That’s if it’s the same guy managing the gym not sure cuz I haven’t been there in a while.

I had no choice but to write a review and I rarely do. that just shows how bad this gym is being taken care of. If I were to confront this management in person I promise you it would get really ugly, hands would be thrown, bones would be broken, faces would be misplaced, somebody would be in the hospital for months, family members would be mourning. And lastly I’d be in jail just because I wanted a well maintained gym that the management is failing of doing so. My life is too precious. I got too much rage that is why I go gym. You would never understand. The gym is where we go to let all our pain out. You will never understand.

So it is what is.Do better man. Shout out to all the latina mamis that still pull up and put up w this gym we love you and you guys are the only reason we still come to this gym real talk. peace out holla. Big GDK grtttt...

I am disappointed in my experience at the retro located 65-45 Otto Rd, Queens, NY 11385. I never had any experience at any other retro fitness like this one. The front desk attendant Niko has discriminated against my entry here on two separate occasions. The two occasions are 12/10/21 and on 12/17/21. Niko never greeted me and when I told him I’m from another gym and that I didn’t have my barcode but I had my manual entry. Niko pretended like he never encounter this situation. Every other retro fitness understood how to input my barcode and allow me access. Niko smiles at me and pretended like he had no clue on how to input my manual entry code. I asked him is there anyone else working that can assist ? Niko replied with its just me here and two minutes later I saw a very warm and helpful girl by the name of Sam working as well . Sam intervened showed me the respect, Care and customer service I deserved. Sam displayed the same treatment as other retro fitnesses employees. I honestly feel Sam should be promoted and working more at the front desk. Sam had to call the supervisor and remedy the situation after 40 mins of denied entry as a member from Niko. My next visit 10/17 /21 to Otto rd retro in queens. Prior to entering I made sure I downloaded the app to prevent the manual entry situation . This time I was with a guest. When I entered i notice Niko working front desk. I had my barcode app ready and said she will be my guest. My guest is already on file at the other locations. My guest had her credit card and not her Id but was already in file in the system. Niko says I won’t let her in without id. Sam was working and had to intervene again. Sam said is he giving you a hard time again ? Sam called the supervisor who said just allow the guest in with the credit card. Niko said no , and than stated I’m going to ask you to leave ? I said really for what ? Than I said I’m going to record you to hold you accountable. Niko states you have to pay to let her in . I said okay I ll pay thirteen dollars. After paying I realized I was taken advantage of why would I pay when I have guest privileges. I really don’t appreciate Niko working front desk and the treatment he gives me. I’m an educator and I have recordings of this interactions. While working out , my guest saw Niko taking pictures of my membership profile personal information. When we asked Niko what he was doing ? Niko said I took a picture of your profile for my personal records and to share with my boss. This is abuse of power and harassment. Niko doesn’t represent the mission , values, and principals of retro fitness. At all the other locations the motto is...

unfortunately this gym’s reputation is now stained bad and i don’t wanna have to describe this review for the sake of the other employees who have to deal with the manager but anyone around that area who considers this gym for themselves should be able to know the truth if they want, had my membership revoked only a day after signing because i walked in without a card and when an employee asked for my name i agreed and gave my credentials needed to verify my membership and she had trouble with the system verifying my number three times so she tried my name and couldn’t spell my name after about 2 times repeating the name in the machine so i kindly offered to go behind the counter to help her out and just after i took only a few steps behind the counter the manager victoria with glasses stated i couldn’t step behind the counter so i respectfully walked out to respect the boundary and attempted to help the other employee spell it out again and after another few tries she finally was able to spell it and verify my membership and left it at that and cleared me good to go and the manager said “that’s all we needed” enthusiastically and i gave the manager a head nod and continued on my way to the locker room and just after i was finished putting my stuff in the lockers two other employees one named loui the other i don’t know came in the lockers and said the manager now decided for me to step out and have my membership revoked after already having confirmed it and after already had a respectful addressing of the membership all because of a malicious thought change to instead just revoke my membership and the managers exact new excuse was “stepped behind the counter” out of malicious intent to instead randomly just revoke it 😂, a person with pure spite and hate in their heart unlike the other well represented employees like loui, ari etc. this would be a fantastic portfolio to sue with for considering the proof/camera footage of me going behind the counter and then stepping out immediately out of respect of boundaries after being asked to plus witnesses plus valid membership confirmation, considered it but out of generosity i might just not for the sake of the other kind employees jobs that could receive collateral damage if so. i’m sure the manager would try to lie about it to cover it up and change the narrative to falsely accuse but that’s her karma either way manager cant lie if so in court especially with all the proof. Lesson here is spare your money/time away from this gym and projecting/expressing hate solves nothing, spread love...
