Shida Braids — Attraction in New York

When I called Shida, I was looking to do a halo with cornrolls in the front, leading into the halo. She had me send pictures and told me she will get back to me. But never did I expect that she would call me back and talk with me for 30 minutes about my vision. Shida was very warm yet direct about the best way to approach the vision, it already felt like a partnership. I booked the appointment and felt reassured that I was in good hands. I didn't disclose that the hairstyle was actual for my wedding until the day of the appointment, because I was apprehensive that she would increase the price (as most salons do). When I arrived for my appointment, I told her it was for my wedding, she was thrilled and honored that I trusted her work. Getting my hair braided the morning of my wedding was risky, but Shida DELIVERED!!! Not only did my hair turn out great and my vision came to life, but my spirits were lifted on one of the most important days of my life. I had my hair done at Shida braids for the first time; with all fairness she was on time and she can braid. However; my expectations weren’t met and I am not satisfied. I wanted Knotless braids and wanted them to be full at least in the front and they weren’t. I made sure I express that to Shida and she stated by the grace of god. The braids are spaced out and not full to wear I can wear it up. I have done knotless braids and many other braiding styles for many years and the look I was looking for could have been achieved. A waist of my money and time. All hair stylists are not created equal; I’m usually thorough in searching for a hairstylist and looking at their work before choosing where I want to go. I had someone that use to do my knotless braids but lost her number.

I walked into this establishment and was greeted immediately with a smile, referred to BY NAME, and confirmation of our appointment time (NO ISSUE about wait time). I was treated to a customary wash (very thorough) before I was guided to her chair. Shida truly has magic within her hands and fingers. The attention to detail that Shida displays is amazing. The nimbleness of her fingers to catch every strand of hair, while still showing the ability to be gentle is a true testament to her craft. At the same time being personable during our session. The scope of the conversations you are having with Shida almost makes you forget she is doing beautiful wonders to your hair. At the end you are left with exactly what you asked for (a work of art). I will definitely be coming back to Shida and that establishment.

It is professional in every letter of the word, they are flexible with appointment times, and they give great hair advice on how to properly manage and take care of any/all hair types/styles.
