I’ll try to be as objective as possible with this review, but in my honest opinion this is one of the worst supermarkets I’ve ever had the misfortune of shopping at. Let’s begin. The produce in this store is usually old. Today because I really wanted a salad I was forced to purchase a package of Campari tomatoes, one of only two packages available. Got home to find they’re so overripe they’re inedible, wound up throwing the whole box out. Same goes for the lettuce, old, limp and brown inside, and only four heads of iceberg on display in the whole store. Passed on the broccoli, the heads are in an advanced state of decay, which is the usual case. This store spent a fortune updating their displays which only confuses shoppers who finally figured out the location of items after the last unnecessary update. Oh yeah, and they raised their prices after each remodel. The stores prices are high and then they add insult to injury by selling produce which the majority belongs in a compost pile. Beware of items on sale, particularly in the produce or meat sections. A discount usually means the item is about to spoil….or already has as I’ve discover several times. I’ve been buying groceries at this location for decades, back when waldbaums first built the joint, and in all these years I’ve never seen things this bad. They need to “remodel” their senior staff and get some employees who care about the quality of the items you sell. I don’t mind paying inflated prices but coupled that with a poor selection and old food? No way. I’ve had enough and will be doing my shopping elsewhere even if it’s an inconvenience to have travel to do so. For the record, I’ve been to other stop and shops, and they’re in complete contrast to the Howard beach location. The HB store needs a complete revamp of its staffing and practices that goes way beyond putting up new displays. Until they do so, do yourself and your families a favor,...
Read moreWas just there Tuesday afternoon around 5 pm Roxanne was the cashier but it appears She doesn’t seem enthusiastic or pleased to be there and it’s not the first time Roxanne was like this with me. (I remember her from another time I went there a while ago.) not asking for her to be super friendly or anything just don’t frown if you don’t want to be there then don’t be, Am not sure how much cashiers get paid but I guess it’s not enough to keep them happy.
and the amount of foot traffic this store gets they should really take care of their employees wage and customers with working hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the store.
it’s very kind to be a little welcoming ! it does go a long way .
ROXANNE Just needs to be more welcoming … I get it unless she is having a bad day or some personal issue.
Maybe there better of closing this place and making it a lidl or Key food.
UPDATE 5-23-23
again today ROXANNE WAS VERY NASTY TOWARDS ME and ALSO CO WORKER GRACE HAD AN ATTITUDE TO ME BUT I GAVE HER A BREAK BECAUSE SHE SAID SHE WAS VERY TIRED. SO I FELT BAD BUT WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL THEY DONT WANT THE CUSTOMERS to use the scanner?? am paying for everything And I can’t use the scanner to make my life EASIER? THIS PLACE SUCKS CORPORATE Needs To Come see for THEIRSELVES HOW THE Staff treat WEEKLY PAYING CUSTOMERS. it’s because of us shopping they have a job THEY REALLY SHOULD Value THEIR CUSTOMERS.
I asked VERONICA if she was the manager I was very upset in how rude and obnoxious ROXANNE was.

Read moreWent to buy a balloon for the kid today. After settling the account, the staff at the door took the initiative to say. Do you need some more air for the balloon? It doesn't look very full. I said that would be great. Then she went to get help. I didn't have to wait long but the staff kept telling me that someone was going to be here in a minute. But the helping colleague never showed up. Finally, we have to walk to the supermarket to find her! And she just stood there! Her attitude was not good after meeting her! Although my English is not good. But I told her my balloon needed more air. And I thought their staff would have communicated well before. But the employee just asked me in a very arrogant manner. What do you need! What do you need?! Then she led us to the cash register and spoke to the clerk at the door. Balloons are so good that they don't need to be inflated! The staff at the door was helpless. I'm angry too! We were still holding the baby and carrying shopping bags, and she was just empty handed and arrogant. So she can walk out without having to wait and wait and go find her! So she knew what the customer's needs were! I thought my needs were easy. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for more air. As a staff member, her attitude and actions make me feel very derelict! This shopping experience still makes me very unhappy! Although this supermarket close to home! But I don't think...
