This location is my go-to store. I come here pretty regularly simply out of convenience because it’s close by. I usually never leave comments anywhere but the staff at this location consists mostly of late teens/early twenties who generally don’t care about customer service at all, a simple “hi” is often too much to ask for because you take time away from their phones or their conversations. There is an older (40’s/early 50’s, heavyset) African American female with long hair who is SO unfriendly, she makes it seem like you are personally offending her by even approaching for help. Which you won’t get regardless of what it is? Do you need to know something about an item? It’s probably out of stock. Do you have a problem with your card? Can’t help you. Do you have a problem at the register? She stares at you, doesn’t even answer you, because she wants to go on break and you’re holding her up AND she can’t help you anyway because “oops left my card “. So if you need help, just walk in the opposite direction of her. I don’t know who trains these people, but most of them genuinely don’t have the basics of customer “service” and don’t care to.
The only reason I’m giving this store 3 stars at all is RYAN and a couple of others, that I unfortunately don’t know by name, only by description. Ryan is a Rockstar. He’s always kind and helpful. Always goes the extra mile, even if it means he has to stop what he’s doing (e.g. stocking) and help at the register. he always has a kind smile on his face and when he doesn’t know something “he’ll find out” for you. And I appreciate that. So thanks for making this unfriendly place a better shopping experience. Also a huge thank you to the Jamaican lady who always asks “how you’re doing!”, she’s at the register in the evening’s and two latino ladies. One is at the register, slim build with glasses and a slight accent and she is “all knowing” lol in terms of stop and shop things, I mean she just knows her stuff, she’s super sweet, always kind, efficient. The other lady is a manager I believe , also short, longer hair, her glasses might be on top of her head (not sure if she has any) beyond efficient, super nice, if you have a question, she’ll take her time to explain it to you. And always smiles when she sees you. And then there is the kind security guard, in the evenings (short) who’s always friendly and one particular worker, big guy, glasses, curly black hair I think (can’t really see because of the hat), but he works super hard and is always nice, says hi with a smile on his face and goes above and beyond. An older lady needed something out of the fridge and he went and grabbed it for her from the other side of the fridge because she couldn’t reach it and he was in that room behind the fridge. I was next to her & they were out of a specific kind of milk and I asked if they had any more and he literally started opening boxes in the back even though I told him he didn’t have to do all that. He did anyway and after box # 3 found the one I wanted and handed it to me through the fridge door. Everyone else would’ve simply said “we’re out!” And that would’ve been it. Not him though. It’s tiny things that can make your day sweeter. Kindness never killed anyone and I think a lot of the people working there could do with a little lesson...
Read moreI do most grocery shopping at this store, only because it's the most convenient with overall decent prices. However, I never have a great shopping experience due to a few different issues, which could be easily resolved by management and staff :) -The produce is very hit or miss. For example, I didn't buy russet potatoes yesterday as planned because EVERY 5lb bag was "off"...each one had wet/rotting potatoes and a bad odor. -SO many items on the shelves are not priced?! When shopping on a budget, it's frustrating when multiple items during one shopping trip have no labeling. The two price scanners in the store solve the problem, but if products are stocked on the shelves, the price should be readily available. -The refrigerated vegan/"healthy" area in the produce section leaves so much to be desired. The tofu and tempeh are overpriced, the Go Veggie cheese hasn't been properly labeled in weeks, and actual vegan cheese brands like Daiya are not sold here. Also, vegan butter has been out of stock for the past few weeks. -Another easily fixable issue is the display of LightLife Sausages in the meat section. The packages need to be stocked FLAT, not upright. I had to dig through them all to find a package that didn't have all the sausages smooshed together at the bottom. They are packaged in individual rows and by carelessly stocking them upright, the product becomes squished and falls apart. At $8.50 a package, this simple change would encourage more people to buy this product. -The Bottle Return area. I have not used the recycling center since earlier this year, so I'm not sure the state of it at this point. But I felt very unsafe using it before. GLASS. EVERYWHERE. Literally covering the floor. I understand it gets messy, but it was a very unsafe environment and occasional sweeping and cleaning would be appreciated by all customers. -9/10 times, there are NO SANITIZER WIPES available at the front of the store to wipe down the carts. This is an important and easy fix that could be done with more attentiveness from employees. -Also, the area outside the front of the store, the sidewalk along where the carts are kept, is littered with trash and needs more care. -Overall, the staff I've encountered at this store over the past year have been friendly and helpful. The store did well during the height of Covid measures to ensure limiting the amount of shoppers and distancing within the store. Most all of the staff work with masks worn properly, but I do wish security would make people wearing their mask as a chin guard either wear it correctly, or leave the store.
On a positive note, I really appreciate how the store offered free vegetable seed kits back in May. I now have a little garden...

To whom it may concern, I have lived in the Bronx my whole life. Specifically the 10463 area. And this is the first time I am loss for words to express how I was treated and feel about the staff in the Stop & Shop located at 5716 Broadway Bronx, NY 10463. Yesterday I was doing my self check out with my 1 yr old. A staff member was speaking to me the whole time and then when the platform reached the weight limit she went ahead and started putting things in my cart. My son was a big agitated since he was in the hospital the day before. I went ahead and paid with my WIC card then my EBT card. As I walked out I realized a staff member go to the cash register and print a receipt. I thought I forgot something but continued to go out because my son was starting to cry. As I was at the car a staff member asked me if I needed help but then said I had to go back inside. They put me in another register and she got another staff to help and started unbagging my groceries and going through everything. She was checking things off , passing it to me. Putting it back. Then once all done there were 3-4 items she said werent in the receipt. I told her it was an honest mistake, that a lot was going on between my son and the lady helping. She then said that they could call the cops and have my son removed from me. I told her there was no issues. And she said I could not return to the store. I told her why are they upset with me if the staff was helping and placed things fast in my cart since the baby was upset. She then said that no the lady isn’t a staff and instead is her kids grandmother who suffers from mental health. So my question now is, is stop&shop a daycare for staff members relatives? Is it ok to have non workers help bagging. When I got home, I went through my groceries all over again with my receipt and indeed there were things missing that actually were paid for. I am highly upset because I get very little as a single mom and for them to just stand and watch everything that occurred and threaten to have my kid taken away after we were in the hospital is ridiculous. I wish they would’ve called the cops because I guarantee you that the cameras will show everything that happened.
I honestly dont think I will ever walk in there again. I am and forever will be...
