To everyone complaining and whining about the pool and staff checking their stuff and saying they have too many rules, you do know these rules are posted online on the official park department website. The swim diapers are annoying but don't blame the staff blame the people who claim their kid is potty trained and have an accident in the pool. God forbid if someone does the pool has to close to clean it but people think they are doing nothing because they see staff just sitting while the pool cleaners are doing their actual jobs. As for phones do you want your phone to get stolen or damaged staff isn't responsible for your things but if something happens to your expensive phone who will you cry and blame it on? Also, would you want phones by the pool not knowing anyone could be taking videos and pictures of the young kids like seriously think and research why the pools have so many rules or you have a mouth how about ask the staff they could answer you.

It takes a long time to get in but it was super refreshing and most importantly FREE. 3 feet 6 inches up and down. Not too much chlorine. They check if you have your bathing suit/trunks and a lock since you can't wear sneakers or anything on the deck. And they search your bag too. Staff is kinda rude but what can you expect from kids working for a summer at a pool. No floaties allowed and you have to be of a certain hight to get in. At least one adult needed with kids even if they are tall enough. The pool is right around the corner from the grill area. You can see the color in the background of the photo.

I recently visited Van Cortlandt Pool and had an overall average experience. While the pool itself was clean and well-maintained, there were a few aspects that disappointed me.

Firstly, the pool seemed to be overcrowded with kids. They were everywhere, which made it difficult for adults to fully enjoy their swim. The noise level was high and it was challenging to find a peaceful spot to relax.

Additionally, I found the staff to be quite rude. They were not very helpful or friendly when approached with questions or concerns. Their attitude towards the visitors detracted from the overall experience and left me feeling somewhat unwelcome.

Lastly, the time allotted for swimming was limited. It felt rushed, and I would have preferred more time to enjoy the pool and relax. It was frustrating to feel like there was a constant time pressure, which hindered my ability to fully enjoy my swim.

Despite these drawbacks, the pool did have some positive aspects. The water was clean and the facilities were well-maintained. The lifeguards also seemed attentive and did their job well. The location of the pool was convenient and easy to access, which was a plus.

In conclusion, my experience at Van Cortlandt Pool was just ok. Not sure I...

Was there on a very hot Wednesday morning, 11:15 AM. Pros: Location -- convenient to the running track. Pool -- the pool is large and there are many places to lounge including chairs. Staff -- there were at least 4 customer saftey checks (bag checks, locks, proper swimwear, etc.) to enter the pool which is warranted during these times.

Cons: Staff -- very agressive, slow in doing safety checking while waiting customer are in the heat. It has been my experience that Parks Dept. staff are often unfriendly and unconcerned with how they approach the citizen tax payer; this needs to be better.

Other pool goers -- lying towels over lounge chairs just to be in the water 90% of the time, rough play by teens and pre-teens jumping into the pool unsafely within inches of other swimmers (parents any where??), consistent running by kids while staff just watch though running is prohibited and for good reason!

Call me crazy but I plan to give it...
