Western Beef Supermarket — Attraction in New York

I wish I could give them zero stars. The supermarket is clean and the food prices are ok but other places like Stop&Shop is cheaper. I've been shopping at Western Beef location on Bay st. for seventeen years. My Husband and I have been shopping at this location for about 3 years or so but because of our experience with them yesterday December 3 2016 we will no longer shop here and that's a promise.

We were on the line for about ten minutes before we got up to the cashier, while getting ready to put our food on the counter this lady came out of nowhere passed us and started calling her daughter to bring their food. I asked her why are you skipping us? She replied the manager said I could skip y'all because my mother had surgery and can't stand for too long. I then asked her which manager she replied Coco, Coco was also the cashier for our line. Coco said nothing to us and at that point I got frustrated..I said to the lady you should have at least said something to us instead of skipping us and acting like you didn't see us standing here. It started a big argument.

Coco stood there ringing up the lady things carrying on a conversation and laughing as if she didn't know my husband and I were upset about the way she handled the situation. She could have informed us that this person was going to skip us because of medical reasons and we would have said ok. Instead she didn't acted as if we wasn't standing there and let all the drama go down. Your job as a manager is to make sure your shift run smoothly and if there's a problem try and fix it instead she made it worse by her actions.

We're not upset about someone skipping us for medical reasons we're upset because of the way it was done. It's called common courtesy! We all spend money yesterday I didn't go in Western Beef to ask for handouts therefore I deserve to be treated with respect. I spoke to a few people that normally shop at this location and they all told me that Coco is rude and something needs to be done. If you care about losing anymore customer as you've lost us and our family members you'll speak to Coco and tell her to straighten up her attitude. This is not my husband's first incident with her, he's had at least three. I'll be calling in on Monday...

Western Beef last week has begun price gouging the public. They have increased their price on practically everything ranging from 30-50 to even over 100%. Those of us who shop here regularly know what to expect with each passing week. Price hikes already went up, when everything went up both times due to the global situation but this last week was nothing short of a gut punch for pure profit margins for far more than ever before.

Meats most especially in the meat department skyrocketed and at the same time they also began the same practices of other stores reducing their half inch cuts to quarter size cuts. So essentially they are doubling the price and giving less product on top of it.

There is more. I can in for prime rib steak and reviewed the 4 they had and each were almost close to their cut off date. Not two days in the fridge the meat was green and smelled bad. Rib steak worth 250 dollars of meat went straight into the trash.

Their best butcher retired after a long career but thankfully helpful staff came on to replace him. But forever lost is the experience.

It gets even worse. Carefully watching the guys in the back cutting the meat three cleanliness isn’t their either. It isn’t their fault. I learned that these bean counters not only have stagnated wages but have also eliminated employee discounts completely.

Western beef like many have begun the age old process of taking advantage of the situation. What could this review possibly do to change anything in a corporation. One wishes they would do the right thing but these days no one does this anymore. The bottom line is all that...

The meats like the beef or anything ground is bad Ill managed and just down right nasty. This is the second month that I brought meats from there which I usually don’t because shop rite is better but Western need is closer n seemed to be convenient but the steak I purchase started to smell Mid cooking. Hamburgers tasted bad. Ground turkey had n awful smell to it but the color wasn’t bad. Slab bacon from the gate was bad. Shop rite is better their automatic phone directory is better they always have a manager available to answer calls. I’ve called western beef 6xs pressed several diff responses n still got nothing. No manager to speak with n then when you go in person to solve the issue they act as if they’re busy. Had me waiting almost an hour before I had to cause a seen. . Their return policy sucks.
