BE AWARE. We moved in a couple of months ago. The building is clean and secure 24/7 which is great. The walls are paper thin, floors are hallow, sirens all night long. Everything runs on electric, therefore your bill will be way higher if you're used to gas for heat and hot water. We are not even upset at that as much as we are upset with the leasing office. We looked at a few apartments before signing the lease. We chose this specific one. The listing says 2,649 with one month free on a 14 month lease. After our application was approved, we were told to come in to the office to sign the lease. Upon arriving the office we were told that it is 2,853 because it was the largest apartment hence why it was the highest price.. I said that that's not what it said on the website. She replied that is the price (2,649) after the one month free. We paid one month security and first months rent 5,706 (2,853 each check). We were told that the one month free rent will go towards the next 13 months. When doing the math it says 2,633.54 will be the monthly charge not 2,649. To make things even worse, we were told later on that this is not the biggest apartment. The biggest is 1,141 square feet and this specific unit is 1,112 square feet. Therefore this was not the biggest unit and it was supposed to go for 2,649 with a one month free on a 14 month lease. We were rushed at the signing because she wanted to leave. I am just dissappointed because we trusted the leasing office. We were lied to so...
Read moreWow, what a place. From the shootings and gang violence across the street to the uncut grass out front/around back that’s taller than the dogs and grill that you can’t even use because management says they can’t afford it, what a gem. I’ve literally seen people fight in the street right next to the building and you can hear every word they are saying due to the paper thin windows.
God forbid you have a room next to the trash room...did I say mice.
If you have something broken, new management can’t afford to fix it. We used to get breakfast on Monday but since new management that has been taken away. That was the only good thing we ever had here next to the grill and both have been taken away. Scaffolding has been on the building now for two months which was supposed to be gone two weeks after they put it up.
Not to mention, you are going to pay close to 2 thousand dollars for that lovely apartment every month with no amenities cardboard floors and paper thing walls. You can hear people through the walls...yes I mean everything. The building smells like a marijuana farm all the time. People smoke in the halls and stairwells that sets off the alarms. One night it went off three times in a row. What a joke of a...
Read moreLived here for 1.5 years when I did my master at Rutgers. One big issue is the noise after midnight. 2 to 3 times per week, there was a trash truck coming around 3 or 4 AM in the morning. Although I lived in the 3rd floor, the noise level was still bigger than a thunderclap. I consider myself a deep sleeper, but it woke me up every time it came around 3. It was alarming and beeping non-stop and usually spent 15 mins lifting and dropping those extremely heavy metal trash carts right next to the building. It affected my efficiency greatly in the day as a student. My health declined due to sleep loss and sudden wake-ups.
I also encountered ceiling leak because of dish washer use by upper floor during my stay. The leak lasted one day because it happened during the weekend, and the ceiling wall fell apart very quickly. But the management team did a great job repairing the ceiling and cleaning the mess. Thank them!
Overall, if you value your health, try to avoid this apartment. I believe there were lots of people filing complaints or moving away but the building still chose to keep those trash carts right under our windows. The trash truck could also be rescheduled to a normal time...
