Worst gym, the people who work here are so unprofessional, rude & nasty. Especially the manager wenser he didnt care about the complains. He didnt bother to even apologizing after explaining my frustration. I am never coming back. I suggest anyone whos thinking about opening a membership here to think again. Save your money, theirs better Gyms out there that actually value their customers unlike this one and have way more options. The machines never work, the classes are always cancelled. Theyre so quick to bill people but cant help NO ONE. worst experience ever. I had to contact the corporate company to get this resolved because Wenser the manager didnt have the decency to even try. If this club cared about their customers I wouldn't be writing this review. Someone wants to reply to my review but cant have the decency to reach out to me to try and fix my issue. Its so unprofessional that i have to keep writing because someone behind this screen doesn't want to help me. I lost my job due to the pandemic and this is the only gym still billing people. No one ever called, texted, emailed not even a single paper letter in the mail stating they were still billing people. Im not asking anything for free but if my account is already in collections from January why am i still getting billed for September OCTOBER . I need to dispute these charges and the manager that he supposedly the owner says he cant do nothing but he was the one filed first? Every other company has offered extensions, waivers, credits, lower premium and when i call to get an extension they cant offer anything? Not only were they closed for a couple months the least they can do is try to accommodate customers who were affected by the pandemic. Like i said these people dont care about you. Im so angry i cant even go to another gym cause i apparently i have to stay at this one . i dont even live in Newark i never authorized the transfer either . Save your time money , coming here is...
Read moreThis is the worst gym I have ever made the mistake of becoming a member. None of the tv's are operable at any of the treadmills or ellipticals, so one is forced to stair at a blank box while using the equipment (an issue which the staff has not even attempted to resolve in the 2-1/2 years I have been a patron of the gym and been complaining of it). The music played over the sound system (even at 5 AM, when the gym is next to empty) is obnoxiously loud, inescapable, and contains obscene lyrics that are demeaning towards women and incredibly crude. The music is so loud it cannot even be drowned out by one's own headphones. I have asked the staff virtually every morning to refrain from playing crude lyrics and to turn the music volume down, and have had no success - the literal response I receive from the staff is "go find another gym". I guess they don't care much about retaining paying customers. The equipment is extremely poor quality to begin with and one piece or another that I wish to use is always broken or "out of order". To top it all off, the gym is dirty - the machines are never cleaned, and I contracted ring worm from using them. This gym was the most convenient for me to attend in the area which is why I remained a member, but I will be canceling my membership after giving them too lengthy of an opportunity to turn things around (during which time they made no attempt or progress) - and I hope to warn anyone else that may be considering becoming a member of this gym not to waste...
Read moreI'm a new member at Club Metro. Having worked out at other gyms in the past like Signature and Fit Above I find Club Metro to be a goodgym. Staff is nice, it's a clean place to work out and it has a nice variety of different machines to work out with.
One problem is the Gym Etiquette. If your working out in the weight room half the dumbells will be on the floor and not on the rack. Now this comes from certain members who are too lazy to put back their weights and not the staff but every gym I've been to has a staff employee who comes around every half hour to an hour and puts the weights back in the correct place. Encouraging members to put back their weights when they are done using them would also help.
Another problem is the maintenance of the Gym Equipment. Some of the boxing equipment on the 2nd floor needs to be fixed or replaced. Sometimes I'll need to try 2 or 3 treadmills before I find one that is working properly on top of others that have signs saying "Currently Under Maintenance ". The plus is they do have a bunch of treadmills so you will eventually find one that is working properly. I've never been to a gym were the treadmills are so poorly maintained.
The positives about this gym is the pricing and enviroment. It does have a nice weight room section with plenty of machines, a 2nd floor with more gym equipment, and child care service. Overall it's a solid gym and would recommend it to a friend. Just wish they would maintain their...
