Newport Landing Whale Watching — Attraction in Newport Beach

My husband and I had the BEST couple of hours while chartering a whale/dolphin watching tour with this amazing, friendly and competent company!

We found the crew to be polite and helpful as well as knowledgeable! The Captain was also knowledgeable, humorous, generous and delightful!

We believe we were blessed to choose an extremely rare voyage and time slot to venture out into the harbor!

The day we booked the tour was a windy day but not rainy…

The day we chose seemed to have just the right weather conditions to stir up many pods of dolphins! There seemed to be so many pods!!! They were very playful!

We also were blessed to see 4 or 5 whales! Our captain told us if we were able to see 1 whale, that would have been a special treat!

The most amazing thing was part of the entire trip was being able to see the final whale breach. The Captain explained that the opportunity to get the privilege to see a whale breach even one time is a very amazing gift! But the whale we saw the day we booked the tour was unique in that the weather conditions were exactly perfect to cause the whale to want to breach over and over and over, again!!!

Our Captain explained that, on a windy day, whales tend to get over excited and may want to breach more often than one time… some of the times the whale came up, it didn’t quite breach, but just kind of did a splashing… that was still very exciting! You could hear an audible, “Awwwwhhhh!” from the thrilled passengers (myself, included!)!

But, to our delight, the final whale we were able to view must’ve breach about 40 times… perhaps that may be over exaggerating… but it seemed like that many times to me!!! It was a true “Whale’s Tail” Adventure!!!

Well worth the money!!! I would say, well worth the money, even if all you saw a was a pod of dolphins!

I grew up, in my childhood years and teen years in both the Newport and Huntington Beaches, then moved out of State, as an adult.

In all of my years of living, my family never rented or purchased any boat tours!

My hubby and I were so very happy we spent our time together on this delightful afternoon we spent on this tour and would definitely use this company, again!

We recently had the pleasure of booking a whale watching cruise for a group of 57 people, and I can't express enough how incredible the experience was! From start to finish, it was a day filled with excitement, beauty, and unforgettable memories.

Booking and Organization: The booking process was seamless. The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating, ensuring that all our needs were met for such a large group. They provided us with all the necessary information and made sure we felt confident about our adventure.

The Cruise: As we boarded the spacious and comfortable boat, the anticipation was palpable. The crew welcomed us warmly and gave a thorough briefing about safety and what to expect. The vessel itself was top-notch, with plenty of seating and great views from every angle.

Whale Sightings: Once we set sail, it didn't take long for the magic to begin. We were lucky enough to spot several majestic whales, including humpbacks and orcas! The crew was knowledgeable and passionate, sharing fascinating facts about the whales and their behavior. They made sure everyone had the opportunity to see and photograph these magnificent creatures.

Atmosphere: The atmosphere on board was fantastic. Our group was buzzing with excitement, and the crew helped foster a fun and friendly environment. There was a perfect balance of guided information and time for us to soak in the beauty of the ocean and its inhabitants.

I decided to take my daughter out on an adventure on a whim on 1/25 for the 12 pm whale watching tour. I went with the regular option.

The weather was grey skies and chances of rain and still decided to go because adventure is even more fun this way. Staff was super friendly and even parked my stroller before boarding. The team that day was very kind.

We made it out into the ocean to be met with choppy waters with swells that seemed to be 2 to 3 ft. My daughter (3) was having the most fun enjoying the drops of the ship (little thrill seeker). The waters were rough but before making it past the bouy, we saw 2 dolphins breaking the surface. That was very luck.

Fortunately, the captain came on radio twice to let the boat know that the waters were not kind today. The 1st time was just advising that we were still going to try but if he deemed it unsafe to proceed, we would go back and the 2nd time was to let us know that we would be going back because it was deemed unsafe to continue. For everyone that was super upset about this decision, I was a lot more glad he choose our safety and was happy to go back to shore. One family next to me was making a guff and decided to say something to them in a friendly way on the lines of "I'm so thankful he decided to go back, I would of hate for anything to happen to my small daughter and I don't think I would of been able to help her and I" which seemed to do the trick into offering some perspective.

The captain was apologetic and let us know we would be getting free vouchers for a free whale watching tour at a later date. I was very happy to hear that because this was definitely something I really looked forward to doing with my daughter and seeing her excitement. We got off the boat and we were handed our voucher with friendly staff.

Although our whale watching tour was cut short, I'm glad it was over concerns for the safety of everyone on board. The captain that day definitely made the right choice.
