Such a beautiful location. The lighthouse has been kept up nicely. Definitely brings you back in time. I believe that it is volunteers who are on site should you have any questions. You can not go up to the light but you can walk through the 2 floors of living space that gives you an ideas of the time period when people lived on site. There is a garden on site but it has not been kept up at this time. Restrooms on site is a good thing. It is in a park like setting that you can walk to from town or to the bay.

I have always loved this lighthouse. Since my youth this was always a fun place to visit. The ghost story was always a ton of fun. What's changed? No more access to the basement or the actual light. The gift shop is gone. The house is in desperate need of some tlc. The paint is suffering. But, it still holds all the imagination and fun wonderful things that have made this a life long go to spot. Beautiful places to take photos. Great picnic areas.

Amazing stop. Fantastic in the fact you can go inside, the original items inside are in pristine condition, the view is fantastic, there are bathrooms in the back, and picnic tables everywhere. It’s free to park and look inside. We went to 3 lighthouses on the coast and this was our favorite. Breathtaking. There are quite a few stairs and a sloped path to get to the top, so it not wheelchair/disability friendly and might be difficult for the elderly.

There isn't a whole lot to look at. The history sounds interesting but the pictures online make it seem more impressive then it actually is. The structure is nothing special, and is completely fenced off with no way to walk up to it. Maybe it would look better without the modern tower next to it. I read that the coast guard no longer owns it, but the appearance of the site suggests otherwise. This is one site on the Oregon Coast that can be skipped.

Open for tours now, I believe… just make sure the guy on the phone is correct, and/or verify on the website. We visited in 2021 ( cool, closed, covid carry over I think), and again September 2023. Closed again, but I misunderstood fella on the phone… Looks very historic and authentic. Easy to find, top of hill down to the harbor. Even w/o touring inside, the view up high of the lighthouse and bridge and harbor and ocean is fabulous!

This lighthouse was in operation for three short years to help ships find the Yaquina River-access to timber and oysters. A nice three story, free, tour. One room plays a decent video fir your information. Nice historic furniture and amazing views. You can’t get up to the top. It’s a ladder and is blocked, but it’s okay. You get a clear sense of hue a family of nine lived here in the early 1870s.
