The original memorial is very tasteful. The thing, whatever is supposed to be, fails miserably. Why is the crunched oil can on broken struts next to it? Is it supposed to look like something that crashed after falling from the sky? It is an unsightly eyesore, out of context and a distraction from the well executed classic monument. The badly riveted oil can is more reminiscent of a failure and a defeat than of victory...

All too frequently memorial monuments are placed and situated in such a way that they are easily passed by and forgotten about, but not so here. This is truly a place to stop, pause, and reflect on those who have served. From the Revolutionary War to the wars of today, this is undeniably a place of solemn beauty that expresses sincere gratitude in its thoughtfulness. It is well worth worth your time to visit...
