2019 update - after enrolling my kids in swim programs and private, it is disheartening that focus on the swim programs are deteriorating. Multiple swim directors have been the norm. They now allow private lessons to take place along with the programs. The pool is already small. All they care about is making money and not the quality of the instruction.
Having a constant and reliable swim teacher is definitely helping the kids who rely on a specific routine. They are active participants and listen well. The price is great too! This is so much better than the NAC because we paid a lot and teachers are constantly changing which makes it hard for the kids to adjust to the teaching styles. Am definitely recommending YMCA...
