This was our first time eating at Ota-Ya. We thought with that with multiple pretty good reviews that the meal would have been better. The crab roll was like mush. The flavor was good but consistency was off. Our sushi / sashimi combination was average at best. There were two pieces of the more prized blue fin. Very light in color. Everything else other than 2 small slices of Salmon were white fish or white tuna? As a side note. White tuna that dominates a sushi restaurant isn't normal. The white tuna is really a fish called Escolar or snake mackerel on menus it's often called shiro maguro the fish is known to give you digestive issues from the high oil content in it's skin. The only true reference to white tuna should be an albacore but this will have a pinkish color to it not pure white. So back to our meal. 6 various pieces of whitish tuna with only 2 pieces of Blue fin, no yellow tail, eel or halibut make this average for us. We will come back for another...
Read moreTasty sushi, but restaurant keeps messing up take up orders. It's the second one where they first time missed an item, and second time put free complimentary salad instead of paid item (seaweed salad). When I got home and discovered the issue, called back. After few questions they realized they put two salads in the wrong bags and asked me to come back to pick it up. I asked if they can bring it over since I didn't want to go back second time and it was restaurant's mistake. They said they are busy and offered me store credit, even though when I called to place the order 20 minutes earlier they said they will do it quick as they are fairly free. I know it's not the end of the world but it's very annoying to keep messing up simple orders of 5-6 items and then making little to no...

My wife's roll was overly cold, suggesting it might have been made ahead of time. A couple of my nigiri pieces were rather tough, though the white tuna, in particular, was excellent. I also liked my spicy tuna roll quite a bit. It was basically a rice roll with a heap of spicy tuna on top, which I thought was cool. I didn't like not being able to see the sushi chef(s), though. That's not typical.
Service was good, but I felt the food was just too expensive for the quality level. For my money, Kawaii Tori in Yardley has a much...
